RTP2040 Regional Transportation Plan

What do we want our transportation system to look like in 25 years? That is the question at the heart of the update to the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), set for Council approval this January. The RTP answers this question after considering successes and failures, feedback from agencies, governments and the general public, and existing and pending federal requirements. WILMAPCO will be soliciting your feedback on the draft 2040 RTP.  WILMAPCO staff are making dozens of presentations at local government and civic meetings this fall and a formal public comment period is expected to be held from November 17 through January 5, 2015. To learn more, please visit www.wilmapco.org/rtp.

PedFriendlyOne Easy Thing Any City Can Do To be More Pedestrian Friendly

According to an October 7th Wired article, "There are many ways cities can make their public spaces safer and more inviting for pedestrians. But there is one easy, cost-effective, and quick thing just about any city can do to make itself more pedestrian-friendly: Use building and landscape details to make people feel welcome and comfortable. The idea comes from a report by the non-profit SPUR (originally called the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association), which laid out seven ways to make any city more pedestrian-friendly. Most of the ideas required big changes to existing infrastructure, but this one is simple."  To learn more, please visit www.wired.com/2014/09/7-simple-ways-make-every-city-friendlier-pedestrians/
