The first in a two-part series about end-of-life issues. We welcome Brent Waters, a Professor of Ethics at Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston. Brent will discuss some of the things to consider when we move forward trying to do "everything medically possible" for our loved ones.

Finding God in Star Wars 
Todd Trubey, Parishioner, Ph.D in English and self-proclaimed Star Wars Geek
(Youngsters are encouraged to attend if they are Star Wars fans)
  • 6:00-6:30PM Sung Compline, Church on the Hill.
  • 6:30-7:00PM  Supper in the McClain Room. Dinner: Moroccan Chick Pea Stew with brown rice pilaf.
  • 7:00-8:00PM  Adult Program in the Lea Room.
All programs are geared to appeal to youth from Middle School age and up.
In addition to the entrees listed below, every evening there will be a kid friendly pasta dish offered.

D inner:These entrees will be catered by Mary Jo McMillin of Mary Jo's Cuisine. Accompaniments include salad, bread, fruit, dessert and beverages which will be provided by the generosity of our Hospitality Committee. We always welcome another helping hand so please feel free to volunteer by calling or texting 847-922-8053 or email Darlene.
 
Youth:  All youth, grades 7-12, are strongly encouraged to participate in the Lenten series led by Christopher. These topics are highly relatable (yes, even Icons!) and the discussion leaders are all people I would want my teenagers to know.  This is terrific programming we don't want to miss out on, so please join me at the Lenten series in the Lea Room.  ~ Leah
 
Children: There will be a Lenten program for children with seasonal stories, crafts and activities. Please join us in the mentoring space next to the nursery. ~ Melissa

Another Kind of Lenten Discipline!
Join us for Lent Madness, a churchy spin-off of March Madness in which two saints face off against each other every day in Lent. Fill out your bracket and vote for your favorites online. Our staff plays every year.  Join us or play within your own family for some Lenten fun (shh!) and learn about women and men who have inspired the world with the light of Christ.

Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care is funda mental to our faith and a ministry of Christ Church. If you are facing illness, a life transition or challenging circumstances, please contact one of our clergy. We are available when you need us for a hospital, home, or office visit. Christ Church has many lay volunteers who are readily available to provide meals and rides as needed. Please reach out to the clergy through the office at (847) 446-2850, or on their cell phones:

Preparing for Your Spring Break College Visits
with Kristen Senior: Sunday, February 28
All juniors and those interested are invited to the Lea Room following church to learn from Kristen Senior about what to look for as you start your college tours.  Kristen Senior has her own college consulting service, The Brass Ring, and will share her wealth of knowledge and experience to help the youth of our parish be ready for one of their first, large life decisions.

Making Mini-First Aid Kits for ScreenBreak!
(formerly TV Tune Out Week) 
New this year, Christ Church is offering a service project dur ing ScreenBreak Week, the annual event from The Alliance for Early Childhood.

We will be putting together mini first aid kits for homeless and other needy individuals and families. Children of all ages are welcome, with parent or caregiver. Please join us Tuesday, March 8, 4:00-5:00PM in the McClain Room. Christine and Lierin Peterson are helping with the event (plus it was their idea!); anyone else wishing to help Christ Church host this fun new event for the community, please contact Melissa.

Eighth Grade Confirmation Retreat
Friday, March 11 - 7:00-11:00PM, Church on the Hill
All eighth graders are strongly encouraged to attend our retreat in preparation for confirmation in May.  Christopher will talk about the confirmation process and we will play games and work together on creating our own Eucharistic Prayer that we hope to use during church on Mother's Day. Eighth grade mentors are welcome to participate, as well!  We will have plenty of snacks, but please eat dinner beforehand.

Kids Against Hunger - Service Opportunity
Saturday, March 12: 8:30-11:00AM
All youth are invited to meet in the parking lot behind 470 Maple to walk to the Winnetka Community House for Kids Against Hunger.  We will work on an assembly line filling food storage bags with nutritious meals that will save lives around the world.  Cost is $20/person. Friends are welcome! Helps to defray the cost of the food!

Saturday, March 12: Lakota Crafts, Spirituality, and Games Workshop with Steve Tamayo,
3:00 - 5:00PM, McClain Room
ALL parishioners, their friends, and family are invited to join Steve Tamayo, our liaison with the Native American Advocacy Program, for an afternoon of learning about Lakota spirituality, crafts, and games.  This will be very hands-on and participatory, appropriate for all ages.  All are welcome to stay for dinner following the workshop.  Please RSVP to Leah Romanelli by Thursday, March 10.

Youth Mission Trip 2016 July 17-22 
Together with local Lakota teenagers we will learn about how being grounded in our faith traditions heals us, grows us, and prepares us for the world while we learn traditional Lakota skills, ride horses, go canoeing, and perhaps hike the sacred Badlands.

Join us at Inspiration Café!
All eighth-twelfth grade students are invited to Inspiration Café on Thursday, May 26 (the day after New Trier's last day...).  We will leave from 470 Maple St. at 3:30 and return around 8:00.  Friends are welcome!  While there, we will make and serve dinner, clean up, and make friends with the people in attendance.
