Montana Girls STEM Collaborative Project


Kick-Off Conference

Join us for the Kick-Off of the Montana Girls STEM Collaborative (MGSCP), 

a partner of the National Girls Collaborative Project. 

 

Wednesday, August 8, 2012 

at the Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula, Montana.  

 
The Kick-Off Conference for the MGSCP will be held on Wednesday, August 8
from 8:30am  - 5 :00pm and includes sessions on "Best Practices in STEM", "What do girls say about STEM education?", and "SciGirls STEM Training."  There will also be opportunities to network and share with other providers in Montana who work with girl-serving organizations.   There is no registration fee, but registration is required. Registration includes conference materials, breaks and lunch.  
Keynote Speaker
Lisa Regalla of SciGirls will be the featured speaker during lunch at the Kick-Off conference. Dr. Regalla is the Manager of Science Content and Outreach at tpt, Twin Cities Public Television.  With the Emmy-award winning series SciGirls, she has created investigations for the series along with a gender equity handbook, activity guides and a STEM board game.  
 
21st Century Learning Centers Conference
The MGSCP Kick-Off conference is part of the 21st Century Learning Centers conference which is being held August 7-9. The MGSCP sponsored sessions on August 8 are open to participants in the 21st Century Learning Centers conference, as well as others who would like to attend just the MGSCP sessions.  To find out more about the 21st Century Learning Centers conference, contact Amanda Domino at theMontana Office of Public Instruction.
About the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP)
The vision of NGCP is to bring together organizations throughout the U.S. that are committed to informing and encouraging girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In Montana, MGSCP will offer professional development, networking opportunities, mini-grants and an online directory of programs and organizations that serve girls with STEM information.
