Important SAT Information
Saturday, February 20th, a practice for the SAT will be administered on our campus for all 11th grade students. To simulate the actual SAT, it will be administered in pencil and paper format. Following the test, students will be provided with a key including explanations for each correct response.  This is an excellent opportunity for you to prepare for our school day SAT on April 12th.

If you are interested in participating in this simulation, please register on the HUB. Students who have not registered may not be allowed to participate.  Those who are not able to participate on that day may access practice tests both through The College Board website and Kahn Academy.

The test requires 4-5 hours. Please arrive at school no later than 8:15 a.m.
The SAT will be administered on campus for all eleventh grade students Tuesday, April 12th.  Mrs. Griggs, our Dean of Instruction, will be working with students in their English class to register for the testing date.  If you have questions regarding the April administration of the SAT please contact Mrs. Griggs at [email protected].

SAT Preparation: Students were registered and enrolled in a free online SAT tutorial program offered by Khan Academy this past fall semester. The program is designed to support the new version of the SAT that will roll out this April.  Students have access to this program and should be working their way through the tutorials in order to best prepare for the April SAT.  Log in with your student tonight to see their progress! Students who earn 50,000 or more energy points on their Khan Academy practice account can apply for the "You Khan Do It Scholarship."  Students can win a $500.00 scholarship.  Find the application here!
Student Spotlight

This week's student spotlight recognizes  sophomore student Jason Ortiz for taking advantage of our partnership with Dis coverU. Jason was accepted into Texas A&M Galveston's Sea Camp Summer Program.  He is also the first student at Energy to apply for and receive financial aid through DiscoverU. He was awarded $450 to put towards his summer program! Jason showed initiative and took control over his summer plans."I usually don't do anything during the summer, so I am trying to plan things that will keep me busy and give me the opportunity to experience something new."  Jason is so excited about the programs offered he is also applying to the Rice Program in Mathematics and The Cutting Edge to Healthcare. "DiscoverU financial aid made this opportunity possible for me, I am very thankful !" Jason found out about Sea Camp by checking out the FLO board outside Ms. Moon's office and reading the weekly Friday FLO newsletters.  Don't miss your chance to make the most of your summer!
