Meeting Maryland's Business Ombudsman, Roger Campos
At our Tuesday Republican Caucus meeting, we heard from Roger Campos, the Governor's Business Ombudsman.
Mr. Campos is Maryland's first Business Ombudsman, and this new position is dedicated to serving the needs of businesses as they interact with state government. His office serves as a liaison between businesses, economic development organizations, communities, and all levels of government. In his unique position, he reports directly to Governor Hogan on the problems businesses encounter when dealing with state government. He has also been working closely with Lieutenant Governor Rutherford on regulatory reform.
During the riots in Baltimore, Mr. Campos was actively engaged in helping the City's small businesses not only survive, but move forward in the aftermath. He continues to travel across the state meeting with local chambers of commerce, business owners, as well as holding economic recovery workshops.
Mr. Campos has a strong background in both the private sector and the federal side of business advocacy and development. His focus is on helping business owners create jobs and find common sense solutions to eliminate barriers. With our state gaining 55,000 jobs last year, it is clear that Mr. Campos has been instrumental in ensuring Maryland is "Open for Business"!
The members of the Maryland General Assembly extend their deepest sympathies to the families of the two Harford County Sheriff Deputies, Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey and Senior Deputy Mark Logsdon, who tragically lost their lives this week.
We owe a tremendous debt to those who keep our communities safe. They leave their families every day with no guarantee of every returning. They see it as their job, their mission, and words fail to express our gratitude.
Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with the families of the fallen officers and the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
