DEADLINE: TOYS COULD BE DROPPED OFF EVERYDAY UP UNTIL JANUARY 10, 2016
The Merrick American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1282 and the North and Central Merrick Civic Association are holding a toy drive to extend the season for giving beyond the holiday season to provide toys and books for hospitalized children and their families when the holidays are over. Obviously, hospitalized children and their families are in particular need of cheer at any time of year. In the days after the holiday season is over, it is exceptionally important to provide gifts to these children. We will be presenting gifts to
The Ronald McDonald House ("RMDH") of Long Island in January 2016.
RMDH gives comfort and shelter to families experiencing the pain of having a sick child in local hospital facilities. A "home away from home", the House provides the parents and siblings of these children with a temporary haven in a secure and comfortable environment among other families sharing a similar burden.
Unwrapped toys, gifts and books may be dropped off in the bin on Claudia Borecky's front stoop at the above address. The deadline for the toy and book drive is January 10, 2016.
