Winter 2016 Update
Hello from MMP!

It seems like only yesterday that we were announcing our annual Black Friday sale. And here it is almost Valentine's Day!

There's a lot going on here at MMP but we thought we should take a quick break and fill you in on the latest news.

Shipping Now!

Warriors of Japan!

Warriors of Japan is finally shipping. We truly hope you guys enjoy this one. It is very similar mechanically to the very successful Warriors of God (Which is also available again!), yet offers a completely different play experience. The game covers the Nanboku-cho period of Japanese history and simulates one of the most dynamic and important periods in Japanese history.

From 1336-1392, all of Japan was aflame with war. After the fall of a corrupt and ineffective emperor, the two great courts of Japan dueled to determine the future ruler of the country. Warriors of Japan covers the vital period following the destruction of the Kamakura shogunate and the fight to find a successor.

Winter Offensive '16 Bonus Pack

ASL Winter Offensive 2016 Bonus Pack features three new scenario designs (two by Bill Sisler and one by Ken Dunn) and two new geomorphic mapboards (74 and 75), also designed by Bill.

MMP has an ulterior motive, however, for the manufacture and sale of this particular product. Proceeds from the sales of each WO Bonus Pack 2016 are donated to the WWII Foundation. You get a nice set of new maps, three more ASL scenarios, and help a great project dedicated to memorializing the efforts of the men who fought in WWII get a very nice donation. This really seems like a win/win in our opinion.

ASL Winter Offensive 2016 Bonus Pack contains:

  • 2 ASL/ASLSK geomorphic mapboards (74, 75)
  • 3 new ASL scenarios (WO18-WO20)
IGS/GTS Update
The next installment of GTS: The Greatest Day-Utah is going to start its trip around the country in just a few months. As with the first game in the Normandy trilogy, Utah Beach will see lots of play as Adam guides her through testing and refinement. Watch for updates and After Action Reports on the IGS/GTS Facebook page
A smaller entry coming for GTS on the battle of Aachen should be on display on gamer's tables starting in the middle of the year. Lastly, IGS is going strong with a new A Victory Lost system game coming soon. Tetsuya Nakamura has taken the best of A Victory Lost and A Victory Denied and made a very different kind of Barbarossa game. This one has smaller games on each German Army Group as well as a combined game covering the entire invasion.  It looks great and we can't wait to get it on to prepub and eventually on your table.
Meanwhile, make sure you get your copy of The Greatest Day: Sword, Juno, and Gold, and start the adventure!
You can also keep up to date with us on Facebook at Multiman Publishing or on our IGS/GTS fan page.

Chas' ASL Valentine's Day Update
Work on the YANKS reprint is winding up as we complete the counter art, the layout for the revised American Chapter H, the 40(!) scenarios, and the box. As with RISING SUN, much of the counter art no longer existed in a usable format, so many of the vehicle and gun counters in particular have been "re-built from scratch". This gives us the opportunity to increase the size of the actual art and also to clean up the appearance of the counters themselves.
ASL Journal 11 Now Shipping!
After a brief hiccup at the printers,  JOURNAL 11 is finally delivered and now shipping to preorders. This is a 60-page magazine for Advanced Squad Leader and features articles, the latest Q&A/errata, twenty-five ASL scenarios (including one Deluxe, one Operation Veritable, one Festung Budapest, and two Valor Of The Guards scenarios), and three Squad Bleeder scenarios (and their associated purchase charts), all printed on cardstock.
JOURNAL 11 includes the following articles:
  • The Best Campaign Game Ever? Mike McGrath explores Valor Of The Guards CG IV "Savage Streets of Stalingrad".
  • The Halfling Aaron Cleavin details why you are probably not Deploying often enough.
  • Forgotten War by Kenneth P. Katz presents a preview of the Korean War ASL module.
  • Squad Bleeder III is Bret Hildebran's next installment of the ASLOK "fog of war" tournament scenarios.
  • Relaxing With Intensive Fire J.R. Tracy sez: "Don't worry! It'll be fine!"
  • Slaughter At Ponyri HASL Jim Aikens, Jeff Coyle, and Pete Shelling describe the design and playtest details of this upcoming Historical ASL module.
  • Getting To Know Gavutu-Tanambogo Jon Neall takes you on a tour of this exotic island destination.
  • Rivers To The Reich Jim Stahler celebrates the last of the Squad Leader scenario conversions.
  • The Vierville-sur-Mer Boat Club Chas Argent wants YOU to reach the beach in scenario AP101 When I Call Roll.
  • Recon: The 10th Guards Rifle Division Action Pack Ken Dunn is having another baby.
  • Debrief: This issue's errata updates, and details about the scenario updates for the new edition of YANKS.
We've already begun work on the articles and scenarios for JOURNAL 12.
Quick Notes
We are working on finishing up reprints for Starter Kits 2 and 3, and also for a map re-stock (several individual 8" x 22" ASL maps have been out of print)...We expect to receive the final submission for the RED OCTOBER Historical ASL module in the next month...Several other HASLs are moving along nicely as well: Dan Dolan's HASL for DINANT (Germans vs French, May 1940); SLAUGHTER AT PONYRI (Germans vs Russian, July 1943), which, based on some new information, now has an updated (and enlarged) map (and Pete Shelling is hard at work updating his scenario designs to fit it); and FLAMES IN HATTEN (American vs German, January 1945), designed by Andy Rogers, is in playtesting at MMP.
One final note: Last year we began a monthly "ASL Saturday playtest" at MMP in Millersville, MD. This was a huge help in expanding the volume of in-house play testing we were able to accomplish. After taking January off for Winter Offensive, we start up again this month on Saturday the 27th, followed by the March playtest on Saturday the 19th. If you are local, or find yourself in the area and would like to attend, just drop Chas an email at [email protected] for further details. All levels are experience are welcome, and we also have Starter Kit projects to work on as well as full ASL.
Follow us on Facebook to get updates on upcoming playtests.
We hope to see you there!!
WO'16 AAR

Winter Offensive 2016 saw a record 30 inches of snow dumped on the Baltimore-Washington area, but that wasn't near enough to put an end to all our foolishness. We had a record number (112) of pre-registrants, and more walk-ins (28) than no-shows (25), although many people left on Friday before the snow started.

We didn't have a raffle. We didn't have pizza. We only brought a limited amount of new stuff to sell. Journal 11 had some slight imperfections, so we did not sell it but each Offender got a free copy. So: sales were way down, the WWII Foundation lost out on some money, a number of people could not attend as long they desired or even attend at all, and we were all snowed in at the Comfort Inn. But: a lot of top-notch ASL got played, as did a lot of great GCACW (thanks, Ryan). Some beginners made some great progress, a lot of good playtesting went on, everyone who stayed seemed to have a good time, and people were able to get out of the hotel Sunday and on to clear highways (although still not clear byways), the hotel staff pitched in to do a great job (as long as you weren't looking for great food), and the WWII Foundation gets a nice (albeit not great) chunk of change.

The Playtest Mini-Tournaments featured Slaughter at Ponyri (three different scenarios on the HASL map) and Dinant 1940 (two HASL and one geo scenario). Mini Tourney Champs were respectively Bill Stoppel and Bret Hildebran. Honorable Mention: Mini-finalists Mark Pitcavage and Ed Fritz, Jr.

The ASL Champion of Winter Offensive 2016 was J.R. Tracy, his second in a row and fourth overall. He beat Jeff Coyle, Chuck Tewksbury, Chad Cummins, Bill Stoppel, and, in the final, Carl Nogueira.

ASL 2nd place Carl Nogueira ASL 3rd place Derek Ritter

Bill, Bret, and J.R. all received engraved dice cups and (along with Carl and Derek) some cash.

Winter Offensive 2016 is in the books and a success. Thanks to all the Offenders.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to drop us a line at [email protected] and we will try our best to answer your questions.

Sincerely,

Brian, Perry, and the crew at MMP
