Baltimore Blast defender Pat Healey has been
named to the MASL Team of the Week for the first time this season.
The Virginia men's soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals in
earning a 2-0 win over Rider Thursday evening in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament at Klöckner Stadium. Virginia advances to play No. 10 seed Maryland at 5 p.m. this Sunday in College Park, Md.

edged out O'Connell in penalty kicks for the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association title.

FIFA needs more women: After enduring months of corruption scandals, FIFA, the governing body of global soccer, is under intense pressure to reform. While popular interest swirls around the February FIFA presidential election, a more important vote will take place on the same day over institutional reform, and less than 1 percent of the voters will be female. Moya Dodd, a member FIFA's executive committee and chairwoman of FIFA's Women's Football Task Force, explains in the New York Times why it's time for more women in FIFA.
