Marker Recycling
Do you have dried out markers just laying around? Bring them to school! The environmental science club and class are collecting markers to be recycled through Crayola ColorCycle. Crayola will then use these markers to turn into new markers, playground furniture, and other plastic materials. We are collecting ALL brands, including Sharpies, highlighters, and dry erase markers. There is a collection bin in the attendance office and in the secured entrance of HUHS. If you have any questions please contact Rachel Arkens
News from the Counseling Department
Junior Parent/Student Night
All junior students and their parents are encouraged to attend the Junior Parent Night on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 6:30pm in the field house.  The presentation will cover course registration details, assessment dates, college and career readiness plans, and information pertinent to junior students.  A panel of HUHS graduates who are freshmen in college or technical college will be there to talk about their senior year and how they prepared for college and scholarship applications.  They will also talk about their experience as college students now that they've completed their first semester and what the transition was like from high school student to college freshman.

PSAT Results
Juniors who took the PSAT in October can expect their results during Resource in February, as results will not be sent to the high school until late January.    Watch announcements for further details.

ACT Testing
All students considering a two or four-year college experience are reminded to take the ACT test during their junior year.  Students can register for the ACT at www.actstudent.org . When registering, students will need the HUHS school code, which is 500-850.   Please remember to check the website to see if the college(s) your son or daughter is considering requires or recommends the ACT writing test.   The test fee for the ACT is $39.50 and the ACT with writing is $56.50.   If you feel you cannot afford the test fee, please ask your child's counselor if you are eligible for a fee waiver.

HUHS is an ACT test center for all testing dates. The test dates for the 2015-2016 school year are:
February 6, 2016                               April 9, 2016                                        June 11, 2016

Note:   Please keep in mind all juniors are required by state law to take the ACT at the high school on March 1 (no cost to the student on March 1).  When considering whether or not to take the February or April ACT, it may be best for students to take the March 1 test, then decide whether or not to retake the test in June based upon March results.

2016-17 Course Registration
Information on the 2016-17 course registration process will be coming in the January Involve.  Please watch for this!

Financial Aid Night
Materials are available in the Student Services Office if you were unable to make the presentation this past Wednesday. Feel free to have your student stop in and pick up the folder.
