Night at the Museums

Join us for a Night at the Museums! On October 30th, the Manchester Historic Association and the SEE Science Center will be joining together for this fun event. Attendees will be able to tour both the Millyard Museum and the SEE Science Center's robotic dinosaur exhibit. Guests will bid on silent auction prizes, meet costumed reenactors of Manchester's history, and come face to face with a Tyrannosaurus Rex. With food, live music, dancing, and adult beverages (this is a 21+ event), it is sure to be a fun evening! Dress in costume or come as you are!

Seeking Material for Upcoming Presidential Primary Exhibit

The MHA is in the process of preparing for an exhibition on the Presidential Primary, with a specific emphasis on the Queen City's role in this process.
We are seeking mementos and artifacts from campaigns through the years, but most importantly, we are seeking photos of the candidates in local settings and ideally with local people.
We believe Manchester is the crucible of the Presidential Primary process in New Hampshire, and with your help - and with your photos! - we can demonstrate our pivotal role in American political history.

Manchester Wall of Fame Unveiled!

On October 14, the Manchester Wall of Fame was unveiled as a new exhibit at the Millyard Museum. The exhibit features an interactive panel that showcases 48 of the city's most famous citizens. Stop by the museum to see who is on the wall!

Now Accepting Historic Preservation Award Nominations

The Historic Preservation Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2016 Historic Preservation Awards.
The Historic Preservation Awards program recognizes and supports the efforts of individuals, businesses, and organizations who have made significant contributions to the preservation of buildings, neighborhoods, and other historic resources in the city.
If you are interested in nominating a person, organization or business for a Historic Preservation Award, please complete the HPA 2016 Nomination Form.

2015 Ornament: Weston Observatory
|
 The MHA's 2015 collectible ornament has arrived! This year's ornament features the Weston Observatory.
Each year the Manchester Historic Association produces an original limited edition brass-plated ornament that celebrates Manchester's history. These unique, detailed ornaments are handcrafted in the United States by the same company that makes the annual White House Holiday Ornament. They make perfect Christmas tree decorations or gifts for the holidays and for many other occasions. Each comes in a decorative box.
These ornaments are available for $25.00 in the Millyard Museum Shop. The 2015 ornaments, as well as a limited number of ornaments from past years, can also be purchased online.

McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center FREE Admission

 MHA members receive FREE Admission to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in November!
The Manchester Historic Association is partnering with the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center during the month of November to offer an exchange for members to visit each other's facilities for free!
Visit the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord to learn about astronomy, aviation, Earth and space sciences through innovative and interactive exhibits.
To receive your free admission, present your current MHA membership card. If you are a Senior/Dual member, you will receive admission for both members, and if you are a Family/Dual member (or above) you will receive free admission for your family members who live in the same household. These discounts are not transferable.

Manchester City Marathon
|
 Manchester City Marathon, a great community event, can use your help.
The Manchester Historic Association is pleased to support the Anthem Manchester City Marathon. The marathon is recognizing its 9th year on Sunday, November 1. The Manchester City Marathon is a non-profit event that contributes proceeds to local charities each year and has donated over $100,000 in its history.
As many know, it is the behind-the-scenes work of many volunteers that makes an event successful. The marathon's Board of Directors and Race Management team are reaching out to local community-focused organizations to seek additional volunteers to deliver another safe and successful event. The Manchester Historic Association is an independent tax-exempt charitable 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization with the mission to collect, preserve and share the history of Manchester, New Hampshire USA. The Association operates the Millyard Museum and Research Center.
The Millyard Museum is located at 200 Bedford Street in the historic Amoskeag Millyard. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Research Center is located at 129 Amherst Street in the Victory Park Historic District. The Research Center is open to the public on Saturdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and by appointment.
Admission for both facilities is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors (62 and over) and for college students, $4 for children 12-18, and free for children under 12. Group rates are available. Please call (603) 622-7531 for more information, or visit the website www.manchesterhistoric.org.
