Junior Class Step Up Mass

Senior Maddy Demos putting the Garces pin on Junior Scott Boylan.
On Wednesday, November 18th, Garces held a very special Mass for the Junior Class in the Chapel with celebrant Msgr. Perry Kavookjian. The Step Up Mass symbolizes the transition to being an upperclassman at Garces and the responsibility for being a role model in one's faith and exhibiting Catholic values to the underclassmen. Each junior is given a pin from a senior to mark the occasion and to remind them of their new responsibility.  Those students who ordered class rings also received their rings after they were blessed by Fr. Perry.
Shadow Visits

Do you know a student who is interested in attending Garces next year?  Have them contact Garces Director of Admissions, Kim Harper, to schedule a Shadow Visit. Ms. Harper will pair visitors with Garces students who have similar interests or with students they already know. They will have the opportunity to go to classes and experience a typical day on our campus to help them decide if being a Garces Ram is right for them.
Annual Fund Drive

By now, all of you should have received information on our Annual Fund Drive. We ask that you prayerfully consider making a gift to the Garces Fund by December 31st. All proceeds help us to fund the education and high school experience Garces provides. We are hoping that every family is able to give something this year as it would be wonderful to have 100% support for the education your child is receiving.

Message from
James Carrisalez
Director of Campus Ministry

Thanksgiving is an important part of the Christian life, as we grow in our understanding of how good God is to us. It's a mindset we are always called to have, which stems from God's immense love for us! One of the reasons we, as a school, wanted to have weekly Masses is so that we could always be mindful of how much God provides for us. In fact, the word Eucharist literally means thanksgiving. We hope to continually grow in gratefulness for all the gifts God has given in order for our gratitude to become a virtue, a part of who we are and how we live.

One of the ways we choose to grow in gratitude and thanksgiving at Garces is by the act of giving itself. This month and next, we will be doing several things to help others in need. This month we have already had a fundraiser for a family receiving a home from Habitat for Humanity.  We also had a Canned Food Drive to restock St. Vincent de Paul's food pantry.

Next month, we'll host Christmas on Campus:  a Christmas party hosted at Garces for children from the Mercy Center. Our students will be play dates for children from the Mercy Center and do many fun activities together.
We have so much to be thankful for at Garces. Our Garces community is amazing, and we are so blessed to be a part of your child's life. Be assured of our prayers for your family, and may you have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas!
