Amazing Tails:

Making Connections with PAWS

Mike, Nina, and Lucy Flaherty became a PAWS Therapy Team this past June and have been visiting the Manor House in Seaford, DE ever since. They learned of our PAWS University program and have already completed quite a few courses which provide specialized training for different types of visiting. Not only have they been visiting and continuing their training, but they have been ambassadors for PAWS by attending community events and helping to recruit new therapy teams in southern Delaware. Nina recently shared, "Since moving to Delaware, PAWS is the most fun we have had! It is a great way to meet great people and their wonderful pets."

New PAWS Partner: HealthSouth
Leia DiSabella, PAWS Therapy Companion, working hard in HealthSouth's therapy gym
Amy DiSabella and her Golden Retriever, Leia, are one of our newest teams, joining PAWS in September of this year. They started visiting at HealthSouth, a new PAWS partnering site.  Way to go Amy and Leia!

HealthSouth is a 34 bed rehabilitation hospital, serving anyone over the age of 14. The average stay for patients is 7-10 days and there is a focus on PT, OT,  and Speech therapy. Our therapy teams are used to help motivate, provide a positive distraction from the hard word the patients are really doing in therapy, and bring a bit of the comfort of home to the hospital.

Shining Stars: Mary Ellen & Silly Billy Dunn
Thank you to PAWS Therapy Team, Mary Ellen Dunn and Silly Billy, for raising $300.00 for PAWS for People! Mary Ellen qualified for the Dollars for Doers Grant from her employer, CSAA Insurance Exchange, by submitting her PAWS volunteer hours. A group called Network for Good sent us a check in recognition of all of Mary and Billy's hard work!

Good luck to Silly Billy on his upcoming ACL surgery!  He'll be missed by the children that read to him while he's recovering.
Community Spotlight
Clarice, PAWS' Community Outreach Coordinator, recently received a call from a company who had been touched by the work of PAWS for People and wanted to find a way to give back.

First, they invited us to an even that they were sponsoring in Newark, DE to talk with attendees about the work of PAWS.  Now, they are taking their support a step farther. They have made PAWS for People the recipient of their Giving Tuesday efforts (which they have extended to the entire month of December)!

American Powerhouse is donating 10% of the of the proceeds of each Diablosport T1000 Trinity Tuner sold in the month of December to PAWS.  This is a popular Holiday gift for car and truck lovers.
