Larkin Community Hospital Behavioral Health Services held its grand opening last month, inaugurating the organization's expansion to Broward County. The 50-bed facility offers treatment for many different mental health conditions, including detox with a co-occuring condition.

"We are thrilled to offer patients a quality, compassionate option for mental health care in Hollywood, Florida," says Iris Berges, CEO of Larkin Community Hospital Behavioral Health Services. "We have done a lot of work to the facility at 1201 North 37th Avenue, and hope that our patients can find the healing experience they need with us."

In addition to being a designated Baker Act receiving facility, Larkin participates in SAMHSA's Trauma Informed Care Initiative in which staff is specially trained to help patients who have experienced trauma.

The facility also offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to patients who benefit from extra support as they transition back to family and community life. Larkin's main facility is Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami.

Cleveland Clinic Florida acquires Palm Beach cardiology practice

Cleveland Clinic Florida bought Cardiology Associates of Palm Beach, which has eight physicians.

The nonprofit didn't disclose the terms of the deal. Founded in 1978, the acquired practice has offices in Atlantis and West Palm Beach. They will become Cleveland Clinic offices.
