Achieving independence through employment
Jarrid, with a little time and the right support, is living out his dreams and reaching his goals. Jarrid sought support from Abilities in 2014 and knew from day one that he wanted to work.  He was selected to participate in a four-week SustainAbilities™ skill training.  Throughout the skill training program, Jarrid learned the essential skills of how to get and keep a job, while at the same time learning skills that would be transferable to employment.

After the SustainAbilities™ program ended, Jarrid was offered a permanent position as a packer and janitor at Edible Garden, where he has been employed for more than a year. Since being employed at Edible Garden, Jarrid has made it his goal to purchase a car so he can independently get to and from work. Jarrid often stays later than scheduled or works on weekends to make extra money. By putting forth his best effort and saving a majority of the money he earned, Jarrid achieved his goal.

Congratulations, Jarrid! When you believe in your goals you can achieve them.  For more information about Abilities' community employment support services, click

The Power Behind Social Sharing
We often don't realize the power of social media until the simple act of sharing a photo takes on a life of its own. Liao's Food, which offers an Asian-fusion Chili Chutney sauce, came to Abilities Screen Printing to have some "Spicy Asian (the hot sauce, not me)" shirts made. Happy with the results, Laio's shared this photo on their social media page and was pleasantly surprised to receive numerous requests for shirts from their customers. So Laio's placed a second order with Abilities Screen Printing to fulfill their increased demands!

We thank Laio's Food for using our Screen Printing services for their business needs, and we'd like to ask all of you to check out Laio's Food in the future. Their Chili Chutney is available for sale locally in Washington, as well as at other retailers and special events throughout the year. You can also read the story of how Liao's Food began with only a suitcase and a few dollars in 1980 and is now Spicy Asian. Laio's can be found online at
