I thought I wrapped up the "convert your bass to a removable neck bass" series.  I thought 3 highly visible basses being wrecked in the 4 weeks we did the series was hugely coincidental.  I thought the musician who decided to have his baroque bass converted must be a clairvoyant...he could truley see what the future holds for those who fly with basses having set necks.

And then The Karr-Kousevitzky bass  happened.

(Luthier gets on soapbox) You need to reduce the footprint of your bass if you're going to fly with it!

We LOVE what we do and we LOVE doing it for you!

The Karr-Kousevitzky Bass
Wikipedia
The Karr-Kousevitzky bass  or Amati bass  is a famous  double bass  previously belonging to  Serge Koussevitzky  and  Gary Karr . Now generally referred to as the Karr-Koussevitzky  rather than theAmati ; until recently, the bass had been attributed to the  Amati  brothers, but now it is generally believed to have its origins in  France . [1]  It is renowned for its tonal quality in solo music but is considered to be difficult to play. [2]  Recently, the bass was greatly damaged while flying on a Southwest Airlines flight with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra principal bassist Colin Corner.
