Dear Friends of Metro DC PFLAG,
What's next for 2016? Metro DC PFLAG is still going strong in providing support for families, friends and communities in the metropolitan D.C. area. We are involved in a series of educational trainings and forums to help bring inclusive information about LGBTQ communities. We are fighting to prevent anti-LGBTQ legislations from passing and turn back the LGBTQ inclusive curriculum in Fairfax County, learn more about this below.
In Maryland,
Metro DC PFLAG would like to invite you to a community forum to discuss LGBTQ equity and safety. Organized by Metro DC PFLAG's community group, PFLAG Germantown and Seneca Valley High School, in an effort to make Germantown a safe space for all residents and it's neighboring communities after the recent murder of their alumnus Zella Ziona, a transgender woman, last fall.
The purpose of the forum is to discuss inclusion, equity, acceptance, and tolerance for LGBTQ community members. There will be a panel of local leaders, followed by small group discussions where community members can engage in reflection and planning of ways to make the area safe.
- Institutionalized homophobia
- Parents and teens: how to talk about sexuality
- Trans-awareness
- Faith & The LGBTQ Community
- Mental and Physical Health Concerns
- Policing
We hope to see you there. If there is anyone that would benefit form this, please share the information below. For more questions about this event, contact J.C. Fellows at [email protected].
