11th Youth Leadership Summit for Sustainable Development: June 27-July 2, 2015
Dedicated to Oceans, this year's Summit was held at the Mayhew House overlooking the blue waters of Menemsha.  Local and global legends shared their time and talents for a rich and life-changing experience for everyone.  Our young people were especially touched by Gandhi's Grandson Arun's message of peace.  The community was then invited to our Gandhi Youth Forum.  Hawaii Emerging Leader Makana Tavares taught us cultural values through Hawaiian Lei-Making. Nancy Slonim Aronie encouraged us to Write From the Heart and Grammy nominated flutist Viviana Guzman inspired us to make music out of our lives. Gabriella Alinda Sullo shared Yoga.  Our Ocean Sustainability Guest Speakers: Dr. Sarah Oktay, Nantucket Field Station; Hawaii youth delegates from Windward, Oahu and Waimea, Hawaii Island; MVYLI Ocean Sustainability Project.  Thanks to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's Tioga for our Sustainable Ocean Tour to the proposed Hope Spots.  Marianne Goldberg and Pathways Ocean Art Project invited us to share our artistic vision for a sustainable ocean.  SHYLI Emerging Leaders led workgroups on planning for our careers and creating our 5-year plans.  We developed action plans for our Sustainability in Action Projects and Leadership Opportunities for the coming year.
This is the 1st Summit where our Youth Leaders share their experiences through writing:
