Head Off A Headache Pain Source
With CranioSacral Therapy
Headaches have many causes. One origin can be jamming of the joint formed by the Occipital Bone (located at the base of your skull) and your first neck vertebra (known as the "Atlas" or C1). Typically, an outside force causes extreme backward bending of the base of the skull at the neck, which results in jamming at the joint. Such outside forces include
muscle and connective tissue tension, chronic overuse, poor posture, computer use, aging, whiplash, birth trauma or other physical trauma.
Jamming of the joint can disturb openings through which certain nerves and blood vessels must pass from the brain to the rest of the body. This can interfere with proper drainage of Cerebrospinal Fluid and blood and strain nerve function. The back-up in fluid flow can lead to sensations of tension and congestion in the skull and headache pain.
CranioSacral Therapy can help to gently release jamming of the Occipital Bone and Atlas, which can restore normal fluid flow from the brain and relieve nerve strain, so that you can enjoy more of what you love free of headache pain.
