FINDING BALANCE 2015 CAMPAIGN

Finding Balance is a campaign designed to increase awareness of falls prevention among older Albertans. The focus of this year's Finding Balance campaign is Keep Active - Increase Your Strength and Balance. They provide many useful resources such as fact sheets, multi-language handouts, posters, brochures, etc. Review campaign resources and a variety of other falls prevention resources.

INPUT INTO VOTING PROCESS FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

Seniors are very engaged voters but can face challenges in voting. The City of Edmonton is very interested in hearing from seniors about how to reduce barriers to voting in municipal elections. 

The City has begun consultations to gather information about voting and voting needs. The consultation begins with an online survey that will inform upcoming in-person consultations. Your input is valuable and you can have your say by completing the survey.

INTRODUCTION TO COLOURED PENCILS - BIRD WORKSHOP

In this workshop you will be introduced to the versatile medium of coloured pencil through demonstrations and one-on-one guidance. Create a delicate drawing of a bird on white paper. You will learn different mark-making and blending techniques and how to layer colours to create depth and richness in your drawings. No drawing experience required. OIL PAINTING DROP-IN CLASSES

Cost: Supply costs only (Approx $8/canvas and $10 for paint and brushes as needed)

FRAUD AND IDENTITY THEFT PREVENTION

Learn how to protect you and your loved ones against the most common scams, frauds, and identity theft that specifically target seniors. Detective Bill Allen of the Edmonton Police Service will discuss common internet scams such as sites impersonating RCMP or Police requiring payment to avoid prosecution; telephone scams such as spoofing or impersonation of victim's known contact voice, Nigerian 419 scams; lottery winnings and in-heritance requiring advance payment to process; and door to door snake oil sales scams.
