With the autumn leaves almost fallen, and the Halloween costumes stored away for another year, it's time to begin savouring the holiday season in Durham Region! Take the whole family out to one of the many local Santa Claus Parades and tree lighting ceremonies, or tour some beautiful Christmas homes to warm your holiday spirit. This is also the perfect chance to attend any one of the many exciting tournaments being held throughout the region, including the National Grand Slam of Curling, the World Junior A Hockey Challenge, the Gloria Rints Memorial International Silver Sticks Tournament and the Eric Lindros Celebrity Hockey Classic. The Rotary Club of Uxbridge is bringing back the Uxbridge Christmas Home Tour on Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Uxbridge Rotary Christmas Home Tour is a self-guided tour of seven pre-selected urban and rural homes that have been professionally decorated for the holiday season. The tour homes, sponsored by local merchants and realtors, just may inspire some new ideas for transforming your own home this holiday season!

GRAND SLAM OF CURLING
Calling all curling enthusiasts! There is still time to purchase tickets for the National Grand Slam of Curling, taking place from Nov. 10 to 15 at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. The third stop in the 2015 Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling series features both the top 15 men's and women's curling teams from around the world, and is sure to provide curling enthusiasts with exciting world-class play.

STATION GALLERY TOUR
The Station Gallery in Whitby will be holding their 26th annual Holiday House Tour on Nov. 14, with proceeds directly supporting the enhancement of the gallery's exhibitions and educational programming for artists of all ages.

The Holiday House Tour will grant ticket holders VIP access to tour through some of Durham Region's most unique and well-designed historic and contemporary homes, showcasing beautiful holiday decoration.

WORLD JUNIOR A HOCKEY 
Whitby will play co-host to Hockey Canada's 10th annual World Junior A Challenge from Dec. 13 to 19, 2015. This is the first time the tournament will be held in Ontario. Two Canadian teams--East and West--and four international teams will compete for a gold medal. 

Whitby games will be held at Iroquois Park Sports Centre, home of the Ontario Junior Hockey A League's Whitby Fury.

HOCKEY SEASON
The Eric Lindros Celebrity Hockey Classic, a fundraising tournament, returns to Whitby for the fourth time on Nov. 6. Registered teams will attend a VIP Draft Party on Nov. 5, and on Nov. 6 these hockey enthusiasts play NHL greats at Iroquois Park Sports Centre in a three-game tournament, followed by an exciting All-Star game for top fundraisers. 

The Gloria Rints Memorial International Silver Sticks also returns to Whitby's Iroquois Park Sports Centre from Nov. 26 to 29. Come out and cheer on AAA Minor Atom, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget teams as well as AA Minor Atom and Pee Wee teams!

HONOURING OUR HEROES
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 170 and the Township of Uxbridge are pleased to announce the Honour our Veterans Banner Program.

The Banner Project will be an ongoing legacy project that will pay tribute to our local veterans, deceased veterans and active service members through the display of veteran tribute banners on lamp posts in Uxbridge between Oct. 1 and Nov. 12 of each year. 
 
The first installation of banners is already in place, with a total of 40 banners being installed in the project's inaugural year.
