Wave Starts:
We are excited to announce that we are going to a "wave start" for all 2015 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon events. A wave start consists of staggered starts of groups of participants instead of one mass start for all participants. There is a short "break" between the start of each wave.
Participants are assigned to the appropriate wave based on the estimated pace that was entered when they registered. Participants are allowed to move "back" waves but are not allowed to move "up" waves. For example, if you are assigned to Wave C, you can start in any wave from C to F but you cannot start in waves A or B. This will allow people who want to run together the opportunity to do so as the faster runner can move back to the same wave as the slower runner. A wave start will
not affect a participant's time. Since we use chip timing, a participant's time does not begin until the start line is crossed and ends when the finish line is crossed.
FYI: It is no longer possible to adjust your anticipated pace, as bib numbers are currently being assigned. You can find more information regarding the wave starts on our website under the Race Info tab,
HERE.
Expo: The expo will take place in the Lambeau Field Atrium again this year, with over 50 vendors offering great deals on merchandise, and information for staying healthy and more! Be sure to take time to walk through the booths.
T-shirts will NOT be in the expo hall this year. They will be located upstairs with packet pick up.
Construction at Lambeau: Due to construction in the atrium, Curly's is closed temporarily. The concession area WILL be open this year during expo hours. This is the area where the course talks and beginners forums were held in the past, on the main floor of the atrium.
Three entrances are now open to the expo. The Miller Lite Gate on the north side, facing Lombardi, the new American Family Insurance Gate on the east side which offers ample parking and easy entrance, with escalators to the atrium, and the Oneida Nation Gate on the east side at the top of the stairs.
Award Ceremonies: The 5K award ceremony will take place at 10:30 am on the Finish Area Festival Stage on Saturday. Awards will be given to all age group winners.
The marathon and half marathon awards ceremony will take place at 10:30 am on the Finish Area Festival Stage on Sunday. Awards will be given to the top 5 male and top 5 female athletes in the marathon and half marathon. Age group awards will be mailed after results are official, usually sometime the following week.
