Joint Finance Committee Approves Releasing $350 million in Contingency Bonding for State Highway Projects

Yesterday afternoon, the Legislature's Joint Committee on Finance voted 10-6 across party lines to approve all $350 million of the contingency bonding for state highway projects that was included in Act 55, the state budget, Act 55.  All six Senate GOP members on the committee opposed releasing the money, while the six Assembly GOP members were joined by all four Democrats in voting yes.

The Walker administration had requested releasing $200 million of the money in 2015-16, but had indicated plans to return next year to seek the other $150 million set aside in the budget.

The approved motion also made a series of other tweaks to the bonding.

Thank you to everyone who wrote letters and contacted your Legislators and Senators to support the release of this contingency bonding for the State's Highway projects.

Together, we are making a meaningful difference advocating for the Verona Road Construction project. Senators and Legislators have heard our message!
