Celebrating the Americans with Disabilities Act 

 

On July 26, 1990, our nation committed itself to eliminating discrimination against persons with disabilities with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) celebrate the 25th anniversary of the law's passage this month by featuring a sampling of our Michigan arts organization grantees and their events.

 

July 21st is the day the ADA Legacy Bus Tour will arrive in Detroit's Eastern Market.Read more...


Hospitality's Global Translation

 

It is frequently referenced that the first festivals in history took place in Egypt in the Pre-Dynastic Period thousands of years B.C. This is not surprising, as the Egyptian culture is well known for placing high value on hospitality and comradery. In the millennia that have followed, this sentiment has spread throughout the globe and become one of the primary motivations for the development of some incredible events-the best of which are right here in Michigan! However, as our environment continues to become more diverse and globalized than ever, planning and executing a successful event requires that we must bear in mind a definition of hospitality and service that is much more broad and fluid in scope than ever before. THIRD ANNUAL"ART IN THE PARK" ART FAIR IN TECUMSEH  

Art in the Park" took place on Saturday and Sunday June 6th and 7th.  The fair took place in John Smith Park, an inviting wooded setting.  The weather was beautiful and the attendance was excellent.   Artists and fair-goers alike were impressed with the high quality of the art presented.

It is one of the major fundraisers for Community Arts of Tecumseh (CAT).  It was held in conjunction with the annual Promenade Tecumseh home tour -- a long-standing tradition that brings visitors from southeastern Michigan and northwest Ohio to visit Tecumseh's historic homes and sites, shop, eat and participate in other events and activities.  Read more...  

 

 

Michigan. The Great Beer State. Magazine 2015 Features New Pull-Out Map Showcasing 154 Member Breweries

  

 LANSING, MI -The 2015 edition of Michigan. The Great Beer State. magazine is now available from the Michigan Brewers Guild. The 72-page publication which identifies a record 154-member breweries and detailed listings for each of those members which identifies those properties which offer brewery tours, outdoor seating, live music and more.  TICKETS AND TENTS - Charitable Gaming, Part 2

 

There are over 500 festivals and fairs held throughout Michigan each year.  They easily generate crowds in excess of 10,000 with some of the biggest festivals pushing 100,000 or more in attendance.  People come from local communities, other areas of the state, and even other areas of the country to enjoy these exciting and vibrant events.  If your non-profit is involved in a community event, you may want to learn more about how charity game tickets can complement your other fundraising activities. Lyon Township 7th Annual Kite Festival

Lyon Township celebrated its seventh annual kite festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7, at its James Atchison Park. The festival was extremely popular and proved to be quite a draw for those looking to experience some local family fun. This festival is the most popular and well-known event held in Lyon Township, and it just gets bigger and better every year!
