Mathew W. Placzek was born in Westfield, Massachusetts on November 27, 1945. Prior to attending college, Matt served in the United States Army, where he was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Korea. He also was deployed to the Dominican Republic during the Dominican Civil War. He graduated from Clark University in Massachusetts in 1969 and Washington University Law School in 1973. He practiced law in Springfield for 42 years and at the time of his death he was founding partner of Placzek Winget & Placzek. 

Matt is survived by his wife, six children and 12 grandchildren.  Matt’s children Mathew  L. Placzek, Jenifer Placzek and Sarah Placzek Donelan, are members of our bar as are his sons-in-law, Eugene Han and Andrew Donelan.
