Wayland Elementary Schools’ PTO is looking for local talents, experiences and donations for their annual Gift Your Child Backpack Auction!

The Wayland Elementary Schools’ PTO is gearing up for their annual Gift Your Child Backpack Auction. The Backpack Auction is the second part of the elementary PTO’s annual fundraising campaign, and the proceeds are divided between Claypit Hill, Happy Hollow, and Loker School. The auction is a chance for the Wayland teachers, staff and community to “gift our children” by donating items to be bid on. The Backpack Auction is a silent-style, simple auction that includes elementary favorites such as camp items, experiences with the local fire and safety departments, varsity sports, and special time with teachers donated by Wayland’s elementary schools’ faculty and staff. The Backpack Auction will take place in March 2016, and the auction catalog goes home in every elementary school backpack, reaching the families of more than 1170 elementary school children in Wayland!

Over the past several years, with great success, we have expanded the Backpack Auction offerings to include some of the many talented members and generous businesses in our community. We would like to, again, extend the invitation to anyone within the Wayland community who might be able to offer a unique or special experience to please consider donating to the auction. This could be anything from sharing a hobby (knitting lessons, sports lessons, photography, baking lessons, cooking an ethnic dish, etc.), to something pertaining to your career (author, musician, athlete, artist, event planner, etc.), perhaps a donation from a family-run, Wayland business in the form of an item or experience (architect, baker, photographer, musician, restaurant, etc.), or even event tickets, time in a vacation home, or some other meaningful item that Wayland’s elementary school families would enjoy bidding on.

If you have an idea for an experience that could be shared with a winner (adult, child and friend, group of children, etc.) or something you'd like to offer to the elementary school community to bid on, please contact Andrea O’Brien and Cathy Davies ([email protected]) by January 15th.
