Upcoming Events
Klondike - February 12th-14th

The Klondike is this weekend and we hope everyone is excited for the Gold Rush. Just a reminder: Be sure to bring extra clothing layers and extra sleeping bags and pads if you are camping. It will be cold and we want to make sure everyone stays warm.

All parents and unit leaders should read this update from Eddie Dry regarding things to keep note of before, during and after the event. This document will cover check-in, weather and snow conditions, Sledding, Parking and information for Volunteers. Additionally, be sure to refer to the Klondike Leaders Guide for any last minute questions and schedule of events.

We look forward to seeing you all at Camp Elliot Barker in Angelfire this weekend!

Order of the Arrow
Comanche Chapter

The new Comanche Chapter has been launched! The Comanche Chapter encompasses Santa Fe and Taos and we are bringing the two together in brotherhood. We will work in cooperation with the Sioux Chapter and will share some of their ceremony outfits and other regalia. We will be working with the Sioux and will put together a ceremony team for the call out at the District Camporee in April. The Spring Fellowship sounds like it is going to be a blast and we are thankful and excited that Zuni is hosting it. The Comanche Chapter will be meeting in the near future and as time passes we will increasingly have more events and happenings to report on in our recently established chapter!

Yours in Brotherhood,

Chapter Chief Aydin Gates
Summer 2016
Summer Camp 2016 - Gorham Scout Ranch

If your unit has not already registered to go to a Summer Camp, it is not too late to register your boys for a fun-filled week at Gorham Scout Ranch. This year, we will be offering 30 merit badges including 7 Eagle Required Merit Badges. We have a program for everyone. Trail to First Class will help scouts earn skills required for Rank Advancement, COPE to build team-building skills and leadership for the older boys, High Adventure for older boys looking for a different summer camp experience. For our adults looking to earn something as well, we will be offering Adult Leader Specific and IOLS.

Gorham Scout Ranch is one of the most affordable scout camps in our region with a cost as low as $285 per scouts taking advantage of our early bird rate. Units that meet their Friends of Scouting Goal before April 15th will receive a 10% rebate of their camp fee's.

If your unit is interested in attending Gorham Scout Ranch for summer camp, please complete a unit reservation form so that we can get you started. You can also find more information by visiting our website.

Provisional Camp at Gorham Scout Ranch

Is your troop scheduled to go to summer camp during the same week that conflicts with your sons ability to attend camp? Is the summer camp your troop is attending simply cost too much for your family? Did you know that even though your sons troop may not be attending Gorham this summer, he can still spend a week here and earn merit badges and take advantage of our exciting programs?  With our Zia Provisional Camping Program, your son will be able to join another troop for the week and still have the summer camp experience that he may have otherwise missed. To register your son for our Zia Provisional Camping Program, please download the registration form and submit it to the Council Service Center.

Cub & Webelos Week at Gorham Scout Ranch

Lets face it, Cub Scouts love camping. If your pack has been thinking about planning an outing this summer, save the week of July 18th - 22nd in your calendar for our Cub Adventure Week and Webelos Week in the Woods at Gorham Scout Ranch. You and your son will have the opportunity to enjoy hikes through the pristine nature of the Ranch, shoot B.B Guns and Bow and Arrows and conquer our rock climbing tower. We will have more information for you next month with the release of our Cub Scout Leaders Guide, but packs may get ahead of the ball and reserve their spot by completing and submitting the reservation form.
