February 2016
Welcome New Interns!

Payton Bailey is our Special Events and Marketing Intern and is a senior double majoring in Journalism and Event Management at IUPUI. Payton's goal is to work in events management concentrating on crisis communications.

Fun fact:  Obsessed with sports, Payton is named after Walter Payton.

Tyanna Fordham is our Guest Services Intern at the RMHI at Riley and is a senior studying Philanthropic Studies at IUPUI.  Tyanna actually started volunteering in January 2015 and continues to volunteer as a Guest Services Volunteer at Limestone on Saturday mornings.

The RMHI mission is what attracted Tyanna to the House.

Marisa Huncherick is our Multimedia Intern and is a senior studying Media Communications at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Marisa enjoys incorporating storytelling into the videos and podcasts she produces.

Super Service Challenge
In 2015, our House won two $500 grants from videos submitted by Sheridan High School and by IUPUI students about their volunteer experience. In 2016, we want to do more!

Any volunteer group of two or more can enter by doing the following:
  1. While you're volunteering, create a short (two minutes or less) video explaining why you volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House.  The video must contain at least two people in your group.
  2. Upload to the Super Service Challenge website.
  3. Share with your friends and family so they can vote!
Each submission is placed on the Super Service Challenge website for viewing.  Anyone can vote for any video they see on the site.  For every 25 votes that a video collects, the video will receive an additional entry to win a prize.

To learn more, please visit their website: Super Service Challenge.

Operations Update - Limestone

Guest Exit Survey

It is very important that we secure as many completed Limestone Guest Exit Surveys as possible with goal of 30% of the total families served.  The feedback we receive from these surveys is very helpful to us as we work to improve current services and plan for the future.  To make it less cumbersome for our guest the survey has been reformatted so that it fits on one sheet - front and back.  Please note the following:
  1. A supply of blank Exit Surveys is now kept in the linen closet.  When you take the linen packets to the rooms please take a survey form and place it in the room next to the linens.  When you take a family to the room during the check in process be sure to point out the survey and ask them to complete it and return it to the front office any time before they check out.
  2. A supply is also kept in the Front Office.  When a family notifies you that they are checking out please ask them if they have completed the exit survey.  If they have not, provide them with another copy on a clipboard with a pen and ask them to please take a few minutes to complete it.

Let's go for a record number of completed Limestone Exit Surveys in 2016!

Check-Ins

All check-ins must occur before 8 a.m. Check-ins after 8 p.m. require special approval fro the manager on duty. Although we do have 24 hour coverage, our security company does not complete check-ins.

When a family checks-in or out, please make sure you complete the Daily In and Out Sheet. Also please fill out the bottom of the referral sheet AFTER the family has checked in.

Communication Binder

Don't forget to check the Communications Binder for any recent updates when you report for your shift.  It is also a good place to reference any past changes and/or reminders.

Look Who Was Caught Rolling Out The Red Carpet

Beth Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, caught Peggy Hall, Guest Services Volunteer at Limestone, demonstrating friendliness and compassion recently.

Beth wrote: "I observed Peggy Hall initiating a conversation with a family that, I am sure, resulted in this family having very positive feelings about the RMHI.  Peggy was warm and engaging, asking appropriate questions and following up with comments that demonstrated genuine interest, concern and compassion for this family.  It is this level of customer service that raises the House from good to great."

Thanks Peggy!
