Dear Children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

WEEKLY NEWS from

ST. JOHN'S CHURCH

February 12, 2016

Dear Friends,

At our day school's Ash Wednesday liturgy  we spent some time talking about the things children worry about..."things done and left undone"  as one of the confessions in our Book of Common Prayer puts so succinctly.  Together we thought about the possibility:   that the things we have left undone may be of more concern to our Lord than many of the sins we may tend to worry about.

And so we all committed to ponder some of the things we habitually tend to leave "undone,"  such as words of thanks or appreciation to their parents, or for us adults, generous words of thanks and love to our spouses, partners and soul mates.

I leave this Lenten invitation to you:  what are some of the things you tend to ignore, or remain stubbornly indifferent to in your life as you think about your families, your local neighbors, and your neighbors across the globe to whom we so regularly fail to be a Christ-inspired "neighbor."

Begin today to wrap these neighbors in your daily prayers,  and ask our Lord how you can alter your behavior in ways that will provide moments in which you can more generously share God's grace, forgiveness and love in all these areas of your daily walk with Him.

Peace,
John+
SPECIAL MEETING
Dear Friends,
The Vestry believes that having continuity and supportive leadership is vital to the welcoming of our  next rector.  Doug Perkins, our Sr. Warden, is completing three years in this office in April and cannot serve an additional year under our Parish Bylaws.  We have appealed to the Diocese, and they have suggested a temporary lifting of this restriction for one year.
This announcement is intended to provide the thirty day notice of this proposed change at our Annual Meeting on April 3rd.  We encourage your attendance that morning as a vote will be taken at that time.
