Below is a story of one of the many families that we reach out to support everyday.
Our purpose is to continually build and strengthen the family unit so that families and individuals with disabilities like the Garcia Family can build a healthy, safe and stable foundation for their future. Generations to come depend on us.

We seek your personal support to meet the challenging goals of so many families in need.

 Meet the Garcia Family

Every day, out of love and devotion, Iris and her husband, Moises along with their son Yadriel look after the needs of Moises, their son and brother who is 20 years old.   It is never too much trouble as they want the very best for him. They care for him at home where he is surrounded by loving family members who all work to make Moises' life good.

The Garcia's insurmountable struggles have not come from Moises' disabilities, but rather from systems they face each day that offer limited help or assistance. Isolation, language barriers and the many trials they must overcome to get even his most basic needs met are often difficult for this little family to endure. As they attempt to navigate a system they do not understand and get the resources needed to lovingly support him at home, they must worry every minute about his needs and what will happen to him in the future after they are gone.

Families facing these difficult challenges struggle to find a way, often alone. Vision for Equality has through its Advocacy and Latino Services Departments been able to help families like the Garcias stay together helping them get the support and services they need. By helping these caregivers, Vision lets them know they are not alone.

This young family is just one family that Vision for Equality helps each year through family to family peer support and advocacy.

During this time of year of giving, please continue to support us in our work to assist these noble families, like the Garcias with loved ones with intellectual disabilities and autism to have a more meaningful and productive life while remaining at home together.

We need your personal support to meet the challenging goals of so many families in need.
