WASC Accreditation Survey

Garces has to go through the accreditation process every six years.  The accreditation committee will be visiting the school in early spring.  Part of the E3 (Ensuring Educational Excellence) model that we have to follow revolves around surveys that all stakeholders must complete.  We had all stakeholders complete their survey a few years ago but because of the many changes to the school, administration, and the board of directors, we felt it was important to have all stakeholders complete the survey again.  Each group of stakeholders is given different surveys that are supplied to us from the E3 handbook.  The survey is anonymous and the Survey Monkey website simply gives us a statistical analysis of the answered questions.  Please click on the link below and take a few minutes of your time to take the survey.  Your input is extremely valuable to us.  Thank you in advance for your time.

CHRISTMAS ON CAMPUS
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19TH

Toy Drive
Garces Memorial will once again collect toys for needy families to distribute on Saturday, December 19th during our Christmas on Campus event.  Families are identified through the Mercy Center and invited to our campus to spend the morning celebrating Christmas.  It is a joyful event where children work on Christmas craft projects, sing Christmas carols, enjoy a magic show, play Christmas themed games, and visit with Santa.  Every child receives a present.  We ask students to bring wrapped presents for girls and boys ages 2 through teen to their Theology classes over the next week.  Please note on the outside of the wrapped present the age and gender.

Gym Lobby Renovation

A big THANK YOU to the Hail Mary Club! Over the past two months, the Hail Mary Club spearheaded the renovation and update of the gym lobby and restrooms at no cost to Garces! Everything was done with great attention to detail. We are so grateful to have generous and caring supporters  like the Hail Mary Club helping us to be the best campus in our community! A big thank you to Jim McMurtrey and Chris Minor who took on the main oversight of the project from start to finish.

Shadow Visits

Do you know a student who is interested in attending Garces next year?  Have them contact Garces Director of Admissions, Kim Harper, to schedule a Shadow Visit. Ms. Harper will pair visitors with Garces students who have similar interests or with students they already know. They will have the opportunity to go to classes and experience a typical day on our campus to help them decide if being a Garces Ram is right for them.

Message from
Joan Finch
Director of Athletics

The 2015 Garces Fall Sports Season has come to a close, and if the success of the fall sports teams is any indication of things to come in the winter and spring, it will be exciting. The girls golf team finished 2nd in the powerful SWYL and shows great promise for next year with returning top golfers- Claire Cornejo, Grace Cornejo, Allie Crawley, Sydney Crawley, and Magen Nagel. The girls' tennis team finished 3rd in the SWYL lead by  junior Anastasia Drulias who was the SWYL runner-up in singles and will continue her dominance next year as a senior. The boys cross country team finished 5th in the SWYL with great showings from Antone Fanucchi, Ben Carlson and Crispin Chirpes. The girls cross country team finished 6th in the SWYL with great showings from Danielle Echeverria, Jamie Penner, Renee Rasmussen and Lauren Burson .....The volleyball team finished 4th in the SWYL, however, the future looks bright for the Lady Rams for next year with returning starters- junior Hannah Merjil, freshman Perri Starkey, freshman Lailah Green, sophomore Emily Demos, sophomore Kaitlyn Cooper, sophomore Priscilla Miranda, and sophomore McKenzie Miller. The football team finished tied for 5th with Frontier in the SWYL, however, our record does not indicate the strong improvement of our football team this season under the tutelage of new coach AJ Gass. This is another team that will surprise many in the 2016 season. Our final fall sports team is our water polo program. Under the guidance and expertise of Petra Koudelkova-Robles the Rams dominated the water polo community. The girls finished 1st in the EYL with a record of 7-1 and 22-2 overall. Their season fell short after a semi-final loss to Golden West. We will greatly miss our seniors- Katerina Gardella, Allison Gonzales, Emma Hawkins, Caroline Kerwin (signed with San Jose St), Jordyn Pavletich, and Calista Tanuwijaya. The boys finished 1st in the EYL with a record of 8-0 in league and 25-3 overall. With great dominance, the Rams won the 2015 Division III CIF Central Section Championships by beating Edison 26-10. This team was the dream team....with the addition of two transfer students- Lee Begin and Chaz Harker, it solidified the power of an already amazing team. We will greatly miss our seniors- Carter Kerwin, Chaz Harker, and Andrew Martinez, but returning players- Mason Smith, Patrick Burke, John Starkey, Hutton Stewart, William Cross, and Lee Begin will continue to dominate the Central Section in the future. Congratulations to all our coaches and athletes for an incredible season.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas...
