Celebrate Valentine's Day with this special treat.
Brownie Tart

Ingredients
6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) unsalted butter
3 1/4 cups (20 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
3 extra-large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup (4 ounces) chopped walnuts
2 to 3 tablespoons heavy cream
Grease and flour a 9-inch tart pan with removable sides. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Melt the butter in a bowl set over simmering water. Add 2 cups of the chocolate chips, remove from the heat, and stir until the chocolate melts. Set aside to cool completely.
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the eggs, sugar, coffee, and vanilla on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Stir in the cooled chocolate. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, 1 cup of the chocolate chips,
and the walnuts. Fold the flour mixture into the batter until just combined. Pour into the pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the center is puffed (the top may crack). The inside will still be very soft. Cool to room temperature before removing the sides of the tart pan.
Melt the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips with the heavy c
ream and drizzle on the tart.

What inspires you about your Home?
2016 is off to a fantastic start for us at Kat Nelson Designs. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary working in a business that allows us to be creative and inspired daily. We are so grateful to all of our clients for giving us the privilege of helping transform their houses into the homes they envision.

On a personal note, our life changed drastically when both daughters left for college. As official "empty-nesters", our needs have cha
nged. I'm organizing and purging to "right size" our own home in the near future. I've been reading "The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo and "Love the Home you Have" by Melissa Michaels. Both are designed to inspire us to purge what is unnecessary clutter in our lives and be less managers of things and create a purposeful home. Creating an intentional home by decluttering, purging and organizing frees us to entertain, serve others, have more quiet time or whatever allows you to be creative and lead a fulfilling life. Consider what you want your home's purpose to be.
Don't get me wrong, there is this "intersection of the beautiful and the chaotic" that makes me most happy. It means my house was a welcoming atmosphere for the beautiful mess of my girls coming home or friends stopping in. That well-lived home is what most of us achieve.
So join me in "blessing your home". That is what I call having to do chores. I tell myself I'm doing "House Blessings". Let's face it; if we have any type of home...we are blessed. So turn some music on and pick one small area and "bless it" and create order. As Melissa Michaels encourages us, "continue to look for the blessings you have in your home right now...even the undone, the waiting and the apparent setbacks." And I promise you assigning time to "Bless your house" feels a lot better than doing chores. It changes your perspective.
I'm getting much inspiration for my future home and its purpose and how I want it to feel and speak to my family and others that visit.

Pantone releases their 2016 Color of the Year and for the first time ever... it's a duo!

We placed this rug and used this color scheme in a downtown Atlanta penthouse before Pantone released their top picks. Can't wait for the future reveal....
