Peabody- and five-time Emmy Award-winning cinematographer to screen film at WSCC

Dyanna Taylor, granddaughter of famed photographer Dorothea Lange, is scheduled to be on hand Thursday, Feb. 18, for a screening of her documentary "Dorothea Lange: Grab a Hunk of Lightning" at 6 p.m., in the Recital Hall of the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.

In a career that spanned more than four decades, Lange is best known for her "Migrant Mother" photograph taken during the Great Depression. She worked alongside her husband, labor economist Paul Taylor, during which some of her greatest photographs were created.

Taylor said she took nine years to research her grandmother's life, searching through journals, diaries, letters, negatives and footage to expand her understanding of her grandmother's place in history and documentary photography through conversations with scholars and artists.

You can see the results of that research and speak with Taylor at the screening on Thursday, Feb. 18. Taylor will be available for a question and answer session following the film. Admission is free.
