Hard to believe the winter break is right around the corner - no school from December 23rd through January 3rd. Kids have been getting in the spirit of the holidays - check out the video from Mrs. Meissner's 1st graders (cuteness overload...you've been warned). It's also the time of year when many of the items you've sent off to school will be coming back to you, new and improved, decorated for the season, while some of them are gone for good - literally. Have a wonderful and safe break, and we'll see you all back here in January.

TIES Teachers of Excellence 2015

For 11 years, TIES has been honoring educators who have had a positive impact on student learning through technology. Honorees have been teachers, technology integrationists, media specialists, and many others who have inspired teaching and learning with technology. Selected by TIES member superintendents, these educators are recognized at the annual education technology conference. Awards were given on December 15, 2015.

This year's recipients from Chisago Lakes are  Carrie Fredstrom , 3rd grade teacher at Lakeside, and  Sarah Meissner , 1st grade teacher at Primary.

D.A.R.E.  Graduation this Week
Officer Spencer "selfie" with Lakeside students.

Since 1995, the Lakes Area Police Department has been conducting DARE classes.  Chisago Lakes is the only area school that still has a DARE program, and 5th graders graduated this week.  With some help from the Community Partnership Improvisational Theater group - which includes Chisago Lakes high school students - and guest speaker Superintendent Joe Thimm students and parents were reminded about the importance of the program and what it has meant over the years.  Officer Spencer, who now conducts classes, remembered being a student at Lakeside and having Chief Kevin Stenson as a DARE teacher.  More pictures...
