A Gilbert (Arizona) Firefighter had a very personal close call this morning but escaped serious injury when live ammunition began discharging at a house fire. The well involved garage fire was reported at the house around 1000 hours this morning. Ammunition could be heard going off inside the home during the fire. One of the bullets from the fire hit a Gilbert firefighter in the face but the firefighter was wearing a helmet/PPE, so fortunately, he is expected to be okay.
They believe the fire may have started when a man inside the home was loading ammunition into a weapon, leading to some kind of explosion.
