Severe Weather is Coming Our Way

hurricane I hope everyone is prepared for an eventful weekend, as the National Weather Service has informed us that we are in for a lot of rain.

Although no one can say with any certainty where Hurricane Joaquin will go, the combination of the storm and a cold front pushing down over Hampton Roads may stall this storm or at least slow its forward momentum and give Hampton Roads a very wet weekend, combined with higher than normal tides and strong wind gusts.

The most recent track (Thursday, 8:00PM) of this storm show it passing well out to sea from Virginia Beach, but storm tracks are always subject to change. For the latest updates on the path of this storm, the Pilotonline has the latest information from the National Weather Service

I urge you to keep yourself and your family safe, secure trash cans as well as lawn furniture, and try to stay off the roads if possible.
Also make sure that you have a supply of bottled water, batteries for flashlights, and a battery-operated radio, as well as some non-perishable foods in case we lose power.

Many weekend events have been cancelled, so please check with event organizers to find out if the events you had planned to attend have been rescheduled.

Also, please call 911 only in the event of an emergency where life and limb are in danger. Virginia Beach Emergency Communications will be very busy over the coming days, so let's help them by using the non-emergency number which is (757) 385-5000.
