Educators discuss the characteristics and importance of the program.

Twenty eight Torrance Unified School District teachers and administrators met yesterday to participate in a program hosted by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce called "Educators in the Workplace." The program was created as a vital link between classroom learning and the 21st century workplace.

TACC's Holiday Toy Drive a Success
Thanks to the donations made by countless TACC members, over one hundred new toys were given this past week from TACC to families of service members who are currently serving in the United States Army Reserve (USAR). TACC worked with the Family Programs department of the 79th Sustainment Support Command, which serves as the headquarters for over 20,000 USAR Soldiers and Civilians throughout the Western portion of the United States, to help bring cheer to local Military families. Thank you to all of the TACC members who donated toys during this year's toy drive. It was a huge success!

Sold-out Crowd Hears Timely Update from Torrance's Congressional Representatives

On Monday December 14th, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (43rd District) and Congressman Ted Lieu (33rd District) joined a sold-out TACC crowd for the Chamber's 14th annual State of the Region event. The program provided a platform for both members of Congress to update the Torrance business community on important Federal issues they are working on in Congress.

TACC appreciates and thanks the following event sponsors for making the event a well-attended and well-executed event: Total Call Mobile, Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., Exxon Mobil Corporation, UCLA Health, Kaiser Permanente, Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Kinecta Federal Credit Union, the Daily Breeze, Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Torrance - South Bay, and Armitra Properties.

New South Bay Business Portal Launched
Southbaybusiness.org is the result of a regional collaboration between South Bay Cities and the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) to help business succeed in a competitive marketplace. The website was designed by the SBWIB as a tool for layoff aversion and business retention efforts. It provides business and governments with the critical data they need to evaluate trends and make important business decisions. The SBWIB received a special grant from the state of California to develop the website.
