I RA Charitable Deduction, Earned Income and Child Tax Credits
Great news!  The United States Congress has finally made permanent three tax incentives for charitable giving.

The incentives include the IRA charitable rollover and enhanced deductions for the donation of food inventory and land conservation easements. After years of renewal and expiration, including the most recent expiration on

These incentives strengthen the charitable community's ability to improve American lives and our communities, and ends the sector's nearly 10-year long struggle to make these incentives a permanent part of the tax code.

In addition to these critical incentives, Congress included important provisions to make the child tax credit and the earned income tax credit permanent. For more information call 272-6286. Update provided by the Independent Sector

Your Gift at Work!
Beth had worked as a nurse for several years, raising her now teenage son alone, and caring for her elderly parents.  After a back injury she was out of work for an extended period, with her financial resources depleted. When she finally recovered she was unable to find a job, and was referred to   Challenge's Job Club. She was eating very little in order to stretch what resources she had far enough to see to her son and parents' needs. When each day at Job Club meant healthy, satisfying food, she was so grateful. It was one of the few things she knew she could count on. "I feel so fortunate not only to get encouragement and the help with a job search, but to be fed such good food," Beth says. "It's amazing - and just what I needed to keep body and soul together."
