February projects
to support others

The CJHS Junior Beta Club is collecting Valentine's items for the Carroll County Women's Shelter. Items to donate include individually wrapped bags of candy, individually wrapped snack items and stuffed animals. Junior Beta members will receive one service hour credit for every three items donated. Please drop off the the items in Ms. Driver's classroom by Feb. 11.

Junior Beta Club members may also receive service hour credit for donating items for Operation Gratitude. The following items are needed: socks (not white), pens, travel-size board games, packs of lip balm, individual packs of moist towelettes, crossword and sudoku puzzle books. Items may be dropped off in the donation box located in the front office or in Ms. Driver's classroom throughout the month of February.

MATHCOUNTS
team selected

Congratulations to the following students for making the CJHS MATHCOUNTS team!

Eighth graders who qualified are Carter Baker, Cirel Gourley, Eli Nunez, Thomas Svegl and Noah Kamishlian.

Seventh graders selected are Dale Drummond, Joshua Farmer, Tate Ivey, Carley Jennings and Adam Olivieri.

They will compete at the West Georgia Chapter Competition on Friday, Feb. 12, at the Education Center at the University of West Georgia. Go Trojans!


Academic Fair 
deadline nears
The faculty and staff of Carrollton Junior High School are proud to offer another exciting opportunity for our students to demonstrate their skills and display their talents through participation in the CJHS annual Academic Fair Feb. 11-16.

Sponsored by the Academic Booster Club, this event is open to all interested students and will include competition in the following categories:

* Language Arts
* Mathematics
* Social Studies
* Science
* Business and Technology
* Visual Arts
* Areas of Special Interest
* Group Projects

To encourage participation, students who pre-register by Feb. 5 will become eligible to win prizes in our Academic Fair raffle, which has been a tremendous success. Local businesses have generously donated gift certificates and coupons to support this raffle and these prizes are always appreciated by the students who receive them.

To allow ample time to work on entries, entry forms must be returned no later than Friday, Feb. 5, 2016. MORE

Four students to compete
in system-wide spelling bee

The following CJHS students will participate in the Carrollton City Schools
System-wide Spelling Bee on Feb. 4: Adam Oliveri, Shannon Foss, Maddie Mount and Charlie Fuentes. Congratulations and best of luck to these finalists!

The spelling bee will be held at Carrollton Middle School at 4 p.m. in the CMS Media Center. It is open to students, staff, family/friends of the students. 
School calendar proposed

The Carrollton Board of Education approved a proposed school calendar for 2016-2017. The tentative approval allows for a month of public review and opportunity for comment before final adoption, expected in February.
