Sergey Ivanovich Kislyak was appointed Ambassador to the United States on September 16, 2008, having previously served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. A career diplomat, Kislyak joined the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation/USSR in 1977.  During his distinguished career, Kislyak headed the Foreign Ministry's Security and Disarmament Department (1995-1998), and served simultaneously as the Ambassador to Belgium and as Russia's permanent representative to NATO.  Ambassador Kislyak first served in the United States as second secretary at the Russian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1981-85) and, later, as first secretary and counselor Russian Embassy in 
Washington (1985-8 89).

 June 2016

With a population of more than 143 million people and rapidly growing infrastructure, Russia presents U.S. companies with promising opportunity. The U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce (USRCC) invites you to participate in a Trade mission to the  St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and Moscow. Participants will have an opportunity to meet Russian government officials and some of the most influential leaders in U.S.-Russia trade and investment relations. The USRCC will coordinate private meetings, an exclusive CEO Roundtable and introductions, in addition to attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPEIF).

LUKOIL will supply first fill motor oil for Ford engines

Lukoil.com, February 3, 2016: OOO LLK-International (a fully owned subsidiary of PSJC LUKOIL) has started supplies of LUKOIL GENESIS oil for JV Ford Sollers (Yelabuga, Russia), which is a large manufacturer of Ford engines.
Ford Sollers already uses LUKOIL fuel as a first fill product at all its factories in Russia (in Vsevolzhsk, Yelabuga and Naberezhnye Chelny). Therefore expanding cooperation with LUKOIL will allow to totally cover the current needs of Ford Sollers in fuel and lubricants.
LUKOIL GENESIS SPECIAL FD 5W-20 is an all-season synthetic multigrade engine oil with excellent fuel economy performance, specially developed in accordance with the latest specifications of Ford.   Read more...
Russian gas exports to Austria grow by 76.2 per cent in January 2016

Oilvoice.com, February 4, 2016: The Gazprom headquarters hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Reinhold Mitterlehner, Austrian Vice Chancellor.
The parties highlighted that the long-term strategic cooperation between Russia and Austria in the oil and gas sector had been successfully developing for many decades.  A continuous increase was noted in Russian gas supplies to Austria. Preliminary estimates indicate that in January 2016 the gas exports by Gazprom to the Austrian market grew by 76.2 per cent versus the same period of 2015. Throughout 2015 the gas deliveries rose by 11.5 per cent against 2014.  The parties also discussed the importance of building the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to satisfy the growing demand for Russian gas in the future.  Read more...


VTB named best trade finance bank in Russia

VTB.com, 27 January, 2016: VTB has been named the Best Bank for Trade Finance in Russia, by Global Finance International magazine.
The prize was presented by the editorial board, consisting of leading financial market experts and analysts. It was awarded based on a number of indicators such as transaction volume, operational scale, innovative technologies and quality of service.
In December 2015, VTB was named the Best Bank for Trade Finance in Russia and the CIS in 2015 by Global Trade Review International magazine.  Read more...

Specially Designated Nationals List (SDN), Updates

Treasury.gov, February 2, 2016: As part of its enforcement efforts, OFAC publishes a list of individuals and companies owned or controlled by, or acting for or on behalf of, targeted countries. It also lists individuals, groups, and entities, such as terrorists and narcotics traffickers designated under programs that are not country-specific. Collectively, such individuals and companies are called "Specially Designated Nationals" or "SDNs." Their assets are blocked and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from dealing with them.  Click here for more information on Treasury's Sanctions Programs.
Russian business takes interest in privatization - minister

TAAS.ru, February 5, 2016: MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. Russian business is taking interest in privatization, the Minister of Economic Development Alexey Ulyukayev said on Friday.
"I'm aware of what Russian business is interested in. I cannot reveal details, but I've personally spoken with those who are interested," he said when answering the question whether any of Russian billionaires have interest in privatization.
The Russian Ministry of Economic Development has prepared and submitted to the government the list of companies for privatization in 2016.   Read more...
Putin Says Only Russian-Based Investors May Buy State Assets

Bloomberg.com, February 1, 2016: President Vladimir Putin said that only investors based in Russia can buy stakes in state companies that may be privatized.
Buyers won't be able to finance deals with loans from state-run banks, Putin said at a Kremlin meeting on Monday to discuss privatization with the heads of state companies including Rosneft OJSC, VTB Bank PJSC, Aeroflot PJSC, Alrosa PAO, Bashneft PAO and Russian Railways JSC. The state must retain control of strategic and systemically important entities, he said.
State-asset sales play "an important role in changing the structure of the Russian economy and stimulate private investment," Putin said.   Read more...
Russia: Focusing on project delivery to meet long-term goals

Russian Oil Production Hits New Record Despite Talk Of Cuts

Rferl.org, February 5, 2016: Russian oil production hit a post-Soviet high last month even as top Russian officials on February 2 continued to push for a deal with the OPEC oil cartel to curb booming global production.
Igor Sechin, the head of Rosneft, Russia's state-owned oil company and its biggest producer, met with Venezuelan Oil Minister Eulogio Del Pino in Moscow and said afterward that the two men had discussed possible joint efforts to stabilize global oil markets. 
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, traveling in the Middle East, also said Moscow was open to coordinating with the oil cartel and countries outside the cartel on curbing production and boosting prices.   Read more...
European Commission Approves BP-Rosneft Deal

Sputnik, February 3, 2016: According to the European Commission, it has approved a deal between UK oil and gas giant British Petroleum (BP) and Russia's state-run oil company Rosneft to divide the assets of their German-based joint venture Ruhr Oel GmbH (ROG). In mid-January 2016, the partners signed a legally binding agreement on dividing the joint venture.
BRUSSELS (Sputnik) - In June 2015, Rosneft and BP, which own Ruhr Oel on a parity basis, agreed on the main terms for reorganizing this joint venture. There are plans to divide stakes in four refineries and the attendant infrastructure in Germany.  Read more...
Bavaria plans to boost business ties with Russia

Rt.com, February 4, 2016: Germany's wealthiest federal state is interested in strengthening economic ties with Russia, according to Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer at a meeting with President Putin in Moscow on Wednesday.
Seehofer said his visit concentrated primarily on improving the economic interests of local businesses in his state. The Bavarian leader stressed that it was his duty to represent interests of the region, as 20 percent of Russian-German trade is with Bavaria.
"The dialogue must not stop. Russia is a very important trading partner for us," he said as quoted by Deutsche Welle.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed anti-Russian sanctions were on the agenda of the meeting.  Read more...
Russia May Become Leader in Cancer Treatment in 10-15 Years

Sputniknews.com, February 3, 2016: Eurasian Cancer Foundation (AECF) chief Subramanian Somasundaram said that Russia can leave behind the West in 10-15 years and become a model for the rest of the world in cancer treatment.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russia has the potential to become one of the global leaders in cancer treatment in 10-15 years, Eurasian Cancer Foundation (AECF) chief Subramanian Somasundaram said Wednesday.
"We can improve survival rates... We can leave behind the West in 10-15 years and become a model for the rest of the world. These are not just words and we are not afraid of work," Somasundaram said at a press conference at the Rossiya Segodnya International Press Center in Moscow.  Read more...
Russia to Deliver Three Advanced Spacesuits
 to ISS in 2016 - Official

Sputnik.com, February 4, 2016: Three new advanced Russian Orlan-MKS spacesuits will be delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) by the end of 2016, the head of the Russian segment of the ISS said on Wednesday.
KOROLYOV (Moscow region), (Sputnik) - Earlier this week, a source in the Russian space industry told RIA Novosti that Russian cosmonauts Yuri Malenchenko and Sergei Volkov, who completed their first spacewalk of 2016 earlier in the day, were supposed to wear the newest Orlan-MKS spacesuits during the event. However, the suits were not delievred in time, and the cosmonauts wore an earlier model of the spacesuits, Orlan-MK.  Read more...
Soyuz prepared for first flight from Siberian cosmodrome

Spaceflightnow.com, January 31, 2016: The first Soyuz rocket to launch from a new cosmodrome in Russia's Far East is being assembled for liftoff in April with a package of small research satellites.
Technicians inside a hangar at the Vostochny Cosmodrome have connected the Soyuz rocket's two core stages and four liquid-fueled boosters ahead of electrical tests that will verify the launcher's readiness for flight, according to Roscosmos, the Russian space agency.
Ground crews from TsSKB Progress, the Soyuz rocket's manufacturer based in Samara, Russia, will complete preparations on the rocket by March 15, Roscosmos said in a Jan. 26 update posted on its website. Read more...
