Hannah Lua'09    

B.A. History

Hannah graduated from CI in 2009 with a Bachelor's of Arts in History and a minor in Communications. During her job hunt, Hannah went to the CI Job Fair and worked with Career Development to build her resume. After graduating from CI, Hannah was hired within two months by the software company, RealPage, Inc. Since being hired, she has been promoted three times and is now the implementation manager. She now manages ten software programmers who implement software for the Multifamily Housing industry. Hannah says, "CI gave me more than just a degree. It gave me the skills and outlook I needed to be successful in the corporate world".

 

Hannah's Advice?

Get involved at CI! Go to the job fairs and presentations they have on resume writing, they are really helpful. Network as much as you can and send as many resumes out as you can!

Jonathan Lyman '11  

MBA Business Administration  

Jonathan graduated from CI in 2011 with his Master's in Business Administration. After eight years in the United States Navy, Jonathan used his experience and work ethic to stand out from other applicants. In order to help capture his current job, Jonathan utilized his connections and used the services offered to make the job hunt as easy as possible. He currently works for Siemens Building Technologies, managing the business development efforts of the company within the federal market for all of southern California. 

 

Jonathan's Advice?

Stay persistent and make yourself stand-out. It is a difficult time, so utilize your networks and demonstrate enthusiasm and knowledge about the organization you are applying to.

CI Students Win Internships at the European Organization for Nuclear Research

Three students from CI will head to the prestigious European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland this summer to help scientists address some of physics' biggest mysteries using the world's largest, most powerful particle accelerator. Cameron Embree and Gradon Faulkner, both juniors double-majoring in Math and Computer Science, and Brandon Ausmus, a graduate Math student, are the first CI students to earn the highly competitive 10-week internships at the world-renowned lab.

CI to Light Bell Tower Blue   

CI will show its support for World Autism Awareness Day by lighting its Bell Tower blue and hosting autism awareness events during the week of April 2-6.

CI and Thousand Oaks Library Announce 2013 Lecture Series 

CI and the Thousand Oaks Library are pleased to announce the 2013 CI Lecture Series, a free, monthly event featuring speakers from the CI faculty. The series is a new initiative inviting the public to learn more about the research and work of CI professors and to engage in discussions on a variety of timely, thought-provoking and regionally relevant topics. Fifth Annual Conference for Social Justice in Education 

CI will host the Fifth Annual Conference for Social Justice in Education, Saturday, April 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Grand Salon. The annual event brings together Ventura County teachers and learners for a day of discussion, sharing, planning and action to promote equal opportunities for learning in our schools.

 

The conference is free and open to the public. Teachers, students, parents, administrators, counselors, youth advocates, activists, paraprofessionals, and anyone in Ventura County who is concerned about issues of equity, access and accountability in public education are encouraged to attend. Free lunch is included. Participants should register in advance at click here .

 

CI's MVS School of Business & Economics Presents 2013 Spring Speaker Series


The Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics at CI is pleased to present pioneers from the entertainment and interactive media world in its Spring 2013 Speaker Series.  The series, "Views from Two Entertainment Industry Executives," is free, open to the public by reservation, and includes lunch.  Both events will be held at noon in Malibu Hall 100 on the CI campus.

As Vice President of Mobile Games for Disney Interactive Studios, Molinets has helped produce the smartphone hits "Temple Run: Brave," "Where's My Water?" and "Where's My Perry?"  He previously spent four years as Vice President of Franchise Production for Disney Interactive, working on all major gaming consoles and delivering successful products around core Disney franchises like Toy Story, Cars 2, Club Penguin, Phineas and Ferb, and many others.  A key figure in the interactive entertainment industry for more than 20 years with Disney, Sony, Electronic Arts, and Rogue Entertainment, Molinets has developed more than 30 games generating over $500 million in revenue.

Dolphinpalooza 2013

CI invites the public to Dolphinpalooza, a multicultural, family-friendly festival organized by CI students to unite the campus and community in a celebration of diversity.

The event will take place Saturday, April 27, from 3 to 10 p.m. on the South Quad of the CI campus. Admission is free for CI students, staff, faculty and children under 5 and $10 for members of the public. Tickets can be purchased at the event or in advance online at http://spb.csuci.edu/dolphinpalooza.
