Luke 9:28-30: Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

News from the Atria
Dear all,
I was glad when they said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord. - Psalm 122.
It's not EST, its OAT: official atrium time! Looks like Sundays, 9:15am-11:15am, will work for most. Flexible drop off and pick up, if you wish. But we do encourage the full 2 hours. That is easier for some families than others, we know.
We will bring the children in at the Peace. Father Billy will give his children's homily then, so all the kids get to participate, followed by birthday prayers and offertory.
When your child does arrive or leave here, please respect the quiet atmosphere we try to maintain in both atria. It is your child's prayer time. What a gift!

Lenten Children's Choir
ECR is actively seeking children age 6 and up to participate in a Lenten Children's Choir. Our first practice will be on 2/7/16 for 40 minutes after the 10:30 service, and we'll practice at this time every Sunday during Lent. The children will learn some Lenten songs along with Sign Language; a selected song will be performed during Lent at the Peace each Sunday. This is a short-term project, and something we hope to repeat during other special seasons of the church year. Please join us in this exciting venture!! Not Your Average Pancake Supper!
We're talking genuine, Episcopal, Boy Scout made pancakes here, folks. Yes sir! Next Tuesday, Feb. 9th is Mardi Gras, and you know what that means here at ECR -- the annual Pancake Supper. Once you feast on these pancakes, you'll be ready for Lent.
The Scouts will have the griddle all warmed up, the butter, syrup, and sausage ready to go around 5:30 pm, and they'll be serving up some yummy stuff.
Breaking News! Granville Ott tells us that we have partnered with Central TX Story Tellers, and there will be entertainment by their professional storytellers. That is not to be missed.
Tickets are $3.00 each or $10.00 for the entire family. What a bargain! Word is that Fr. Billy Tweedie has some surprises in store, too, so no telling what's going to happen, but chances are, it will probably involve some music.
Come on out, the kids will love it.

Collect
The opening Collect is the short, opening prayer said by the priest, that "collects up" the individual prayers of the people in the congregation just prior to the scripture readings (Liturgy of the Word). The Collect for this coming Sunday is:
Oh God, who before the passion of your only begotten Son revealed his glory upon the holy mountain: Grant that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance, may be strengthened to bear our cross, and be changed into his likeness from glory to glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever, Amen
There are solemn collects for special days, and we'll cover those when they occur.

Thinking about the Austin Marathon
Feb. 14th is more than just Valentine's Day. It's also the dreaded Austin Marathon -- at least some of us trying to make our way to church might dread it. Here is information regarding routes you might take to avoid getting caught up in the running, and still make it to church on time. It is possible if you take a look and plan. Daughters of the King - Special Event
Sharon Lundgren, past national DOK President, will present her monologue as "Margaret Franklin" in costume, portraying the founder of the Daughters of the King, Saturday Feb, 6th at 9:00 am at St. John's Episcopal Church. She will be in costume as she portrays Franklin who was also the founder of the Glory Bound Singers. She will have her book, "Revive Us Again" available at the meeting, as well. |

New Dine Out Experience
Dine Out for Feb. is the third Saturday, Feb. 20th at 5:30 pm., at Maudie's Tex Mex Restaurant, 10205 N. Lamar, suite 131. (East side of Lamar at intersection of Masterson and Lamar) There is a sign on Lamar.
This is the first time we've eaten at Maudie's, but the Maudie's Tex Mex Restaurants have been Austin favorites for years. Let's all turn out and enjoy good food and great fellowship.

Wednesday Bible Study Continues
Wednesday morning Bible Study continues from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Genuine Joe's Coffee House at 2001 W. Anderson Lane. The Bible students have studied a lot of the scripture so far, and will continue on. They have finished their study of Luke, and will go on to study the Gospel According to St. John. Please Note: There will be no Bible Study on Wed. Feb. 10th due to Ash. Wednesday Services, but they will resume the week thereafter.
