National Assessment of Education Progress
We are pleased to notify you that St. Peter Interparish School has been selected to represent private schools across the nation by participating in the NAEP. First administered in 1969, NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students in public and private schools know and can do in various subjects.  It is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education.  NAEP is different from state and school assessments because it provides a common measure of student achievement across the country.  The results are released as The nation's Report Card, which provides information about student achievement to educators, parents, policymakers, and the public.

NAEP assessment will be given on February 9, 1016 to our 8th graders.

Earned Income Credit (EIC), the Child Tax Credit (CTC), and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
These programs provide vital tax benefits for working parents that qualify - even if they did not earn enough income in 2015 to owe income tax. This year eligible families may qualify for as much as $6,242 from the EIC and even more if they also qualify for the Child Tax Credit.
As with an ever growing number of things the EIC/CTC/VITA materials now are accessible electronically only. Please talk to your tax preparer for more information or to see if you qualify.

Central Missouri LU+ Scholarship
The A+ Scholarship program provides scholarships funds to eligible graduates of A+ high schools who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school.
Unfortunately, students in central Missouri who attend private high schools or whom are home schooled, are not eligible to participate.  Lincoln University has created the Central Missouri LU+ Scholarship similar to the the A+ program from MDHE.
Please contact Lincoln University if you are interested in more information on this program , especially if you have a child attending Helias Catholic.

Virtus Training
Studies show that one in four females, and one in six males, will be a victim of sexual abuse by the time they reach the age of 18.  You can help prevent this from happening.  The Diocese of Jefferson City will hold a VIRTUS® Protecting God's Children class on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 6:30 pm at St. Thomas More Newman Center, Columbia.  The class will be held in the Disciples Room.  Participants are encouraged to register in advance at  www.virtus.org.  Please arrive early so that the class may begin on time.  Due to the nature of the subject, children are discouraged from attending.

This program is one component of the overall effort to protect God's children and vulnerable adults.  All employees and volunteers with ongoing and unsupervised contact with children and youth are required to attend a Protecting God's Children session.  All parents, grandparents and other adults in the parish community are encouraged to attend.
