Federal coupling bill passes Iowa House
A bill to couple Iowa's tax law with the federal changes for calendar year 2015 passed the Iowa House with a large bipartisan majority (82-14) on Thursday. HF 2092 couples with all the federal tax provisions except bonus depreciation. However, the coupling is only for one year. If Iowa is to couple in the future a bill will be necessary next legislative session as well. The bill now moves to the Iowa Senate. Keep reading...

Promoting caucus participation made easy!
The chaos surrounding the Iowa caucuses is nearly over. Iowans will caucus for their preferred presidential candidate on Monday, and ABI has resources to help engage your employees in the process.  This email, shared with ABI members Thursday morning, has all the information you need to be prepared for caucus night.
Please consider forwarding this resource to employees, including it in a company newsletter or sharing it on your social media channels. Research shows that employees trust their employers to provide information on elections, and together we can help drive participation.
ABI is grateful for the partnership with BIPAC and its efforts to put together the valuable Iowa Caucus Toolkit for Iowans to use.

With your help we asked candidates about their plans to grow America's modern workforce. Read responses here.

Ask the Candidates: How Will You
Support Manufacturing?

The caucuses are a few days away, and Iowa voters are hearing more and more from presidential campaigns. Voters have heard plenty of rhetoric, slogans and promises, but they deserve to hear more about one very important topic: manufacturing.
Specifically, what are candidates going to do to preserve and promote manufacturing in Iowa and across the United States?
It is a critical question. America's strength depends on manufacturing. In fact, if manufacturing in the United States were its own country, it would be the ninth-largest economy in the world.
Manufacturing represents about 9 percent of the U.S. economy and about 17 percent of Iowa's economy and nearly 14 percent of Iowa's non-farm workforce. And manufacturing jobs are the backbone to the middle class. These jobs pay higher than average wages, and for millions of hardworking Americans, they provide health care and retirement benefits.
