Welcome!
Life can change in the blink of an eye.
For better or worse. Making us richer or poorer, healthy or sick.
All of us, at some point, will find ourselves challenged, in small or great ways.
Everyone of us will find a time(s) when we need to re-group, re-frame, re-examine, re-plan, re-start, re-fresh, re-store, re-live!
our lives.

A new season is upon us.

This fall, we encourage you to find some peace and quiet. Explore what you need.
Be gentle with yourself.
And be grateful for each day as another opportunity.

Blessings,
Karen Smith Simonton, Executive Director, SCC
We are delighted to announce the marriage of Dr. O. Carl Simonton's daughter, Elizabeth, to Russell Gruther on July 25th, 2015.

Although unable to walk Elizabeth down the aisle, Dr. Simonton was definitely there in spirit~

His image, contained in a heart locket Elizabeth carried in her bridal bouquet.

A Room With A View
This September, we were most fortunate to host SCC's 2nd Annual International Director's Conference in Venice and Florence, Italy.
It was a productive time.
Subjects up for discussion; Training, retreats, legalities, marketing, expansion of staff and programming, teaching, international branding, more direct cooperation and ways SCC can continue to help improve the lives of patients around the world!

Our Directors met in Venice and Florence in late September of 2015.
From left to right; Thera Balvers of SCC Netherlands, Nobuko Kawabata Hashimoto of Japan, Cornelia Kaspar of Germany and Elena Canavese of Italy.

And now a word from...
                        Walk With A Doc!

Let's give people a break this holiday season.
Doesn't all this pressure about eating healthy for the holidays just make them that much more stressful? Does it even work?

Let's try something new. Tell people they can eat whatever they want, and that if they take plenty of walks, their metabolism will begin to move at lightning speed, freeing up more space in their stomach for them to eat more. Don't tell them that the walks will also make it easier for them to control their appetite, leading to less caloric intake. Remember that this is supposed to seem like a free-for-all!

What do you say? Here's to a gluttonous holiday season ;)

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

The Peace of Wild Things
By Wendall Berry

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief
I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
