The Jigg by Mr. Pecour
The New York Baroque Dance Company, Meggi Sweeney Smith teaching
DATE: Saturday, December 5, 2015
TIME:
3-5pm

Musicians, Dancers and Actors will especially love this class open to all levels. Seize the moment to dance the spirited jig in a class of fellow revelers fascinated by 17th and 18th century dances from the court, the country and the stage. We hope to see you next weekend!
Our new teaching approach:

1. This class will be taught with an assistant to help those who are at the beginning level.

2. For students who read the notation, please prepare ahead of time, ask questions about interpretation, demonstrate your reconstruction for the class.  Click here for the Notation

3. Meggi will start the class with a warm up and introduction to basic Baroque steps found in the jig (pulling from phrases within the piece).  She will also incorporate explorations of musical elements - use of syncopation and the sautillant rhythms. This warm up would again have layers for the more advanced students. We will then move on to the piece - adapted for both levels!
