WEATHER COOLS BUT YTD IRRIGATION NEED EXCEEDS LAST 5 YEAR'S TOTALS
What a wild weekend as we again set weather records, but different from those earlier this summer. Wind and rain more typical of November broke records and the drought streak we have been on all summer. Work to clean up some storm debris, but overall good news and the dry hot summer weather may be over.
The good news is the weather is moderating but the impact of the record drought summer is still there. As of the end of August, we have already exceeded the irrigation need of any of the previous 5 summers. The recent weather is allowing us to reduce irrigation but is likely that dry weather will return as during most years, we need to irrigate into mid-October. With a strong El Nino developing, a warmer and dryer fall is being predicted. The irrigation season is not over yet.
