BoD  Wychwood Barns Community Association
WBCA Board Of Directors

Get involved - be a community leader!

The Wychwood Barns Community Association is looking for individuals who love the Barns!

We need people to serve on our Board of Directors who have a commitment to community building and to using the Artscape Wychwood Barns to involve and engage our community.

Board members typically commit 15-20 hours a month to the association, depending on events and activities. The board is responsible for setting the strategic direction, governance and operations of the WBCA and for actively supporting and promoting the WBCA's mission: to facilitate, promote and support community engagement through public use of the Barns.

This is an operational board whose members are responsible for all aspects of the WBCA operation from governance and finance to program and policies.

The WBCA board meets on the second Tuesday of each month, from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

The Nominating Committee is currently reviewing applications and the deadline is September 8. Click here for the application.

St. Clair Oral History Project

Did you participate in the centennial celebration of the St.Clair streetcar line and the Wychwood Barns back in the fall of 2013? If so, you probably remember the excitement it generated about our neighbourhood and its extraordinary history. The celebrations brought so many people together, including those who have lived in the neighbourhood for decades, raised families here, or ran a business. There were lots of former TTC employees, too, who remembered working in the Barns when they were home to the beloved 512. This remarkable event sparked many memories and inspired some to want to share their stories.

This was the inspiration and genesis of the St. Clair Oral History Project, a committee of the WBCA.

gallerynotice

After six exciting years the Wychwood Barns Community Association has decided to terminate our lease for the Peter MacKendrick Community Gallery at the Artscape Wychwood Barns. We will continue to run the gallery until November 30, 2015 and are thrilled about the shows we have booked.

While we are sad to give up management of the gallery this move allows us to focus our resources on other community activities, some of which include St. Clair Oral History Project, "BOO! at the Barns",  the Garden Club, and increasing active outreach to engage the broader community within and outside of the complex.

Artscape is seeking a new operator for the Peter MacKendrick Community Gallery to start on December 1, 2015.  For information on the tenanting process please contact Georgia Cowan, Property Management Coordinator, Artscape at gcowan@artscape.ca

Once the new gallery management is determined by Artscape, the WBCA will post the information on our Facebook page and in our newsletter.
