New Faculty Positions Announced
NIMBioS, in conjunction with several departments across the UTK campus, invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level: one in computational or mathematical biology and one in spatial ecology. The primary appointment will be with the department and will include being an affiliated faculty member of NIMBioS. Read more.

Strutting Salamanders

NIMBioS and Clemson University researchers have been watching tiger salamanders strut their stuff. It's an exercise that's helping them learn more about how the earliest four-legged vertebrate animals transitioned from water to land around 390 million years ago. Read more.
Postdoc Spotlight:
Ioannis Sgouralis
Ioannis Sgouralis creates computer models of the kidney to assess the organ’s behavior under a range of conditions. The models can help researchers better understand how severe illnesses such as hypertension or diabetes progress and thereby help develop more effective prevention and treatment strategies. Call for Postdoctoral Fellowships
December 11 is the next deadline for submitting requests for postdoctoral fellowships at NIMBioS. We are especially interested in activities expanding beyond the research supported to date, including research in areas of molecular biology, cell biology, network biology, immunology and systems biology. Summer Research Experience
NIMBioS' Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates and Teachers will be held  June 6-July 29, 2016 at NIMBioS on the Univ. of Tennessee, Knoxville, campus. Project descriptions and the application will be announced and available soon on our website. NIMBioS Tutorial: Game Theory
Apply now for the NIMBioS Tutorial: Game Theoretical Modeling of Evolution in Structured Populations, to be held April 25-27, 2016, at NIMBioS. This tutorial is appropriate for both mathematics and biology faculty as well as advanced graduate students. Application deadline:  February 15, 2016 . Requests for Support
March 1 is the next deadline for submitting requests for new scientific and educational activities at NIMBioS, including Working Groups , Investigative Workshops and Sabbatical Fellowships . For information on what NIMBioS funds and does not fund as well as application requirements, click here .
Apply for a Self-Supported Research Visit
NIMBioS welcomes self-supported visitors who do not need financial support for visits of up to several months duration. Such visitors may propose to include a mixture of Working Group, Investigative Workshop and outreach activities as part of their effort while in residence. Self-supported visitors are chosen based upon indications that the applicant's research plans are consistent with the mission of NIMBioS.
