Eat Great and Participate

A Healthy Start to a New School Year!

Keep your child's lunch exciting, nutritious, and delicious by:

1. Letting your child choose their own lunch bag - a favorite movie character can make lunch fun and insulated lunch bags help keep food at the right temperature.

2. Asking your child what they'd like to have for lunch -  even if they request a less than nutritious choice, there are ways to increase the nutrition factor. Your child loves pizza? Leftover homemade pizza with veggies and low-fat cheese makes a great

lunch!

3. Having your child help prepare lunch the night before

even young kids can help with small tasks like mixing ingredients, spreading sauces or layering sandwiches. The more involved kids are in making their lunch, the more likely they are to eat it the next day.

Be sure to visit Dietitian of Canada's
page for great lunch ideas that your kids will love!
