Falconry: On the Hunt
MMA teams up with Nantucket Hawking and Falconry for an afternoon learning all about raptors, including witnessing a hunt!

New Additions to the MMA!
Board
Katherine L. Rhode, Ph.D., came to the Maria Mitchell Association as a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) intern in 1989 and went on to earn a Doctorate in Astronomy from Yale in 2003. She is currently an Associate Professor of Astronomy at Indiana University. She has held a number of professional astronomy positions, including a position as an Astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Katherine's research has appeared in many refereed journals and publications.
John F. Hartner and his family have been summer residents of Nantucket since the late 1980's. John has worked for 30 years in various industrial technology markets for a number of large multinational firms. During this time, he lived overseas for 15 years in multiple countries in Asia & Europe. He serves on the Board of Directors of EnvisionTEC and Elco. He is also familiar with nonprofits serving on Villanova University's Engineering School Dean's Advisory Board. Furthermore, he is an active member of the Young President Organization and the Asia Society.

George Donnelly,
Director of Development and Communications
George has 25 years of experience as a professional fundraiser, communicator, and graphic designer. He served as the Director of Marketing and Advertising for Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT. He also served as the Marketing and Communications Director for Connecticut's Mystic & More, the Convention and Visitors Bureau for Southeastern Connecticut, the Executive Director of the Providence Tourism Council, and the Vice President of Marketing and Communication for the Providence Convention and Visitors Bureau. He then formed his own communication company, Graphic Pix, Inc.
Sarah Erichsen, Administrative Assistant
Sarah has several years of administrative experience working for local non-profit organizations, retail establishments, and in law. She was raised on the island and attended Salve Regina University, where she studied Cultural and Historic Preservation and American History.
